This is an extremely enjoyable boxing series. The other name for this title is "The Fighting".

Ippo get bullied by school guys and a boxer Takamura. He is amazed by the speed and strength of Takamura. He goes to a gym and Takamura tells him he should fight back. Ippo has no confidence and lightly punches the bag. With a little encouragement Ippo delivers a massive punch. Everyone can't believe how strong Ippo's punch is. Takamura says that Ippo can train in the gym if he can catch 5 leaves that fall from the tree before they hit the ground. The hand-eye coordination and speed needed are almost impossible, but through practice practice practice...and a natural talent for boxing Ippo develops into a boxer.

I am so amazed at the number of different ways that japanese anime portrays boxing. This is a really fun and motivating anime.
