Reviews for Yami No Matsuei

Overall:

Video:

best video, no glitches at all

Audio:

great audio, hear the voices very well and the music, too cool

Subtitle:

the subs were simply perfect I think I only found 2 phrases missing along with two or three mispelling but that's all

Comment:

the only place where it's not subtitles is when Suzaku kills off a monster and Tsuzuki keeps telling her to stop and them she speaks to him, unfortunatly that part didn't have any subtitles but if you get your japanese you can make it out. This is a must buy set!!! from the first episode you get in the story very quickly, first the past of Hisoka gets revealed in the third episode which is so cool, and later on you get to learn of Tsuzuki which is full of surprises. Too bad they only made 13 episodes of it, they left though an opening for maybe ( hopefully ) and opening for a sequel. any questions? email me at [email protected]

The video was awesome! There were no color problems or even glitches in the picture. Good DVD set. The picture quality was good because they put the 13 episodes on 3 disks instead of 2. EX: The one from Anime Studio has only two disks which took the video quality away.

Audio:

THE AUDIO QUALITY WAS AWESOME TOO. I loved the opening song!!!!! Loved the parts where Tszuki summoned Byakko and Suzaku the sound effects there were astounding.

Subtitle:

This set had excellent subtitles. There weren't a lot of errors and grammar problems i was pretty satisfied with this set!

Great video - absolutely DVD-quality! Great animation and absolutely no pixellation.

Audio:

Also no problems with the audio - sounds very good to me.

Subtitle:

Very good subs - just a few typos here and there and some missing lines. All names are correct.

Comment:

The only thing to critizise is that there's just one opening and one ending on each disk. Beside of this fact the set is really great and worth buying.

Yami no matsuei is a really great shonen ai series - fans will love it.
Buy it!

this set contains 13 episodes and not 14. Video - 4.5/5 - DVD sourced. This series has exceptional background artwork and it's all here. Audio - 4/5 - No problems at all. Subs - 4/5 - some openings arent subbed while some are. fansub quality with a few typos here and there. one or two missing lines (one instance in which muraki speaks a good 4 or 5 sentences but only one line of sub shows up.. hmm...)

I usually don't mention packaging for movies but this is different than your standard laser copy in a jewel case. The print job on this gatefold case is first class all the way. Too bad it doesn't fit in a standard DVD slot in a storage unit. The video was crisp and bright through the whole show. Maybe a notch below (a very small notch below) most commercial releases in North America. The sound was without any noteable problems. Although I think part of the sound was cut off the opening of each episode. (I watched this a few weeks ago so I'm going from memory). The subtitles were almost as good as first rate fansubs. Definitely a cut above the standard. The subject is handled really well too. I'm not much of an Yaoi (sp?) fan but this series still kept me glued to the set. The whole undead thing is a fun twist on story telling. My wife wants to make sure I mention the cute guys and great character design in this series. If you're not violently opposed to guy/guy romance, I highly recommend this series. It's a great package for an above average show.

Don't judge this by its cover now...This anime turns out to be pretty interesting. It's pretty hard to get someone like me into things like this, and Yami no Matsuei got me...hahaha...each character is beutifully detailed, and there ain't a lot of things that are ugly. (*note: I hate ugly things) Thus, this had sweet animation. The Subtitling was alright, its better than the usual HK DVDs. The Audio was hella good. The whole dvd is in Japanese with an option of Chinese or English subtitles, but there's one seen where acharacter makes an attempt to speak english....like a full 2 sentences...it was pretty funny... Yami no MAtsuei is drama, comedy, and action with gore...pretty y good mix if you ask me! I wasn't real cool with the GUY GUY realationships, but all in all it was still all GOOD. Its not really focused on a great deal. edited by vtpnysolostar854 on 06 May 2002 11:35 pm

I love this series and was glad that there was a good release of it on HK DVD. I don't think people should turn away from this just because it's Yaoi (male-male relationships). Well, unless you don't like supernatural drama as well I suppose. I had no problems with the audio and video at all. A minor irritance however, was that MI was screaming that this was their release by having their logo hover in the corner of the screen every now and again. Their email address was also always appearing when there is no dialogue. I thought these touch-ups were not neccessary at all. The subtitles are bothering me a bit. Are they really based on the fansubs throughout? I've only watched the 1st 6 of the digisub episodes so I don't know about the quality of the rest. But in this set, I felt that the subs were not as spot on with grammar during the later chapters, especially the last 2 episodes. Anyhow, apart from the itsy bitsy things I noticed, this is one of the best HK sets that I have bought, and despite my questioning of the subs they are still exellent.

This is the set that AS ripped. Good stuff, but this has the wonderful gatefold box that AS badly ripped. The Video is excellent, there were a few screen blips but for the most part this was perfect video. Definately R2 material. Everything is sharp and vibrant. Audio is excellent, very good stuff. Didn't notice one problem at all with this set in the audio department, not a big use of the surrounds in this series but thats no biggie. Its all good here. Subs, excellent subs. Fansub subs used here for all 13 episodes so you got no real problems with understanding the series. The only thing I would say that was wrong was a few spelling errors spread throughout the set. Not horribly bad, just a few here and there. You also get a descent amount of formatting errors with words being stuck together and spacing problems, but still its a minor thing. As for content, well I would say the content of this series is pretty good. I do warn though that its not for everyone as the show can be very Yaoi at times and this will bug some. I'm not a big fan of that type of anime but it really wasn't a huge problem at all. Its a very good show, a few plot holes, but still excellent I would say. Very good set. Highly recommended.
