the video shows some color bleeding on tv. It's not as clear as I would have expected, but not bad.

the subs are really good. r1 ripped, so expect proper grammar (not like mine ^^;;)and very competent scientific topics' translation. unfortunately sometimes the line gets cut on the borders because it goes over the screen, but that happens just a few times.

this is a review for the mac blue submarine dvd, but I guess this is just a repacking of the old AS set. the cover is different, as shown on animegod.

Video: As clean and clear as it gets. I had one brief pause during one episode (I think it was the layer change) and that was it. Crisp vibrant colours, smooth action scenes, and great amounts of detail. Audio: Great stereo seperation and sound placement. I don't have 5.1 on my home system but this is very nice through the Mission speakers. Subtitles: I think I caught one typing mistake... the timing was right on at a pace that was easy to keep up with. The translations gave each character their own personality and didn't need any additional translation. Content: I've been wanting to see this for a while but didn't want to shell out $5 to rent each episode or $30 to buy each one. For my $9 I got $120 worth of anime... hard to go wrong from a dollar standpoint. The action scenes feel like a next generation video game on steroids and the design folks were working overtime to come up with all the great characters and mecha. The story is decent. Another one that says "if we keep fighting, we'll destroy the planet." The theme has been done over and over again. Fortunately for us, it still works. Overall, I say you can't go wrong with this DVD. Good subs, excellent animation, great sound, and even a making of video at the end of it all.

This is a great release, most likely a rip it has great video and audio and the subs are pretty good. All in all its worth is. Also includes an little bonus ep with the producers of the show
