Reviews for Rurouni Kenshin TV Series Perfect Box Set
Video:
Audio:
Subtitles:

Overall:

Video:

It seems to be all but a perfect clone of its Region 1 counterpart, very, very little if any pixelation. However take in mind the source dvd's were mastered in 2000 so its not exactly cutting edge in dvd technology, however it is very clean video.

Audio:

Simple 2.0 stereo for both audio tracks, but the only reason im deducting half a star is a few of the early episodes have timing issues with the Japanese dialogue.

Subtitle:

Perfecly timed yellow subs, the same that appear on the Region 1 set.

Comment:

A very good rip of the R1 dvd set that features the disc and box art of the R2 original Japanese release. While it does have minor flaws I would say the quality is very high for a perfect collection (ive seen many worse and few better). I do own the original R1 Kenshin set as well as this one, and I do have to say im slightly jealious that the upcoming Japanese re-release sets have far better video than there R1 counterparts... but then again you cant really compair a dvd set mastered in 2000, and a dvd set mastered in 2006.

Overall:

Video:

The video is crisp and clean, the only true way to enjoy Rurouni Kenshin.

Audio:

The audio is also up to par, with choices of either the original Japanese or English subbing.

Subtitle:

For the fans who enjoy the Japanese language with english subtitles, this is one of better translated animes regardless of the fact that it was done by Media Blasters in North America.

Comment:

Rurouni Kenshin is definitely one of the fundamental samurai style animes that should be watched, it's up there with Ninja Scroll, and a precursor to Samurai Champloo. While the first season of Kenshin may start off rather light hearted, the the continuing story arcs; Legend of Kyoto and Tales of the Meji, are darker and more story driven. Before long you'll want to learn Hiten Mitsurugi style sword play.
