Title: Yu Yu Hakusho Category: TV Total Episodes: 112 Genres: Action, Comedy Yu Yu Hakusho is one of the all time classic titles by Yoshihiro Togashi that shouldn?t be missed. Yuusuke is a 14 years old punk-ass kid with a bad attitude. One day, he actually does something good, throwing the balance of his fate off the handle, He tries to save a boy from a high speed car and got himself killed, this has earn his way back into existence. When that's over with, Koenma (Prince of the Underworld + in charge while King Enma is away) wants Yuusuke to become a Spiritual Detective + hunt out the bad guys of the Demon World (Makai) and ship 'em off to the Spiritual World (Reikai). Yuusuke is joined by local bully and cat-lover, Kuwabara Kazuma, (who has the 6th sense in training), Kurama (reincarnated Fox Demon aka Youko), and Hiei (cute, short, pissy fire demon). Video (5/5): The video quality is very good if you consider how old Yu Yu Hakusho is. It is one of the classic titles. It should be a LD rip. There is only one opening theme song and one ending theme song in every disk. 90% of the DVDs contain 10 episodes within. There is a review of the next disc?s first episode at the end of each disc. Audio (5/5): The audio quality is very good as well. I can hear every word and music clearly. English Subs (2/5): Poor English subs, many grammars and spelling errors. Some of the translation doesn?t even make sense. It is difficult to understand every part of the story. Often get you confused. Chinese Subs (5/5): The Chinese subs is in fact very good, there is no mistake in the Chinese subs, everything is clear and good use of grammar. Packaging (4/5): Yu Yu Hakusho has a nice packaging, it contains 12 DVDs, each DVD has its own DVD box with nice DVD box art, and however there is an error in the box art between disc 7 and disc 8. The box art of disc 7 is in fact for disc 8; both are in the wrong way round. Overall: I really like this anime overall and recommend you to get it but best is to learn your Japanese or Chinese well so you can get a deep meaning of the story so you don?t get confused by the bad English subs. Note: if you like this anime, you can also consider look at Yoshihiro Togashi?s latest anime work called Hunter X Hunter. ^_^

The video quality looks good and the sound is really good too. However, the subtitles are really bad. If you've watched the one Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Sub that is circulating around {not the subtitles done in white print} it is nowhere close to that level. i saw n the first 32 episodes in the fan subbed format and started seraching for more since it is a good series. I purchased the 112 episode sseries feeling like I could catch up on what happened. Besides seeing the first 32 episodes, I've seen some latter episodes sporadically in the good fan subbed Yakusho. If you have both resources you can fill in teh gaps and basically understand what is happneing using the horrible subs to fill you in on episodes you can't get a hand on. Just wait till a better model comes up is my opinion, unless u can supplement these with good fansubs to help you understand, otherwise you'll miss out on a lot.

One of the all time classic titles. This series shouldn't be missed. The DVD's audio/video are very good. The only draw back is the bad translation. Subs suck and have name changes, timing errors,.. etc. But overall, this is a great show. So don't let the bad subs keep you from getting it.

Yu Yu Hakusho is a great show. It has classic fighting with battles not too drawn out, like in DBZ. It has great characters and you can really get into the show. The video quality looks great, as if it were ripped from an LD source. The audio quality is not too bad either although it does drop out pretty often which may or may not be noticable. The subtitles are classic bad Engrish. YYH is a simple show so you'll usually be able to get by but you won't be able to understand any deep meanings. Also, two of the major character's names are switched in the subtitles, which can get annoying. After watching this series, you'll probably find yourself fluent in the Engrish language. You actually get used to reading it. edited by Ramza on 18 Mar 2002 12:43 pm

Title: Yuyu Hakusho TV Version: AC # of disc: 12 (complete) Video (4/5): Great video! Possibly an R2 DVD rip (well, i'm no expert or anything ^_^). If it is not R2 DVD rip, at least it is an LD rip (the video is cool!!). Having watched this set, I did not found any problem. Audio (3.5/5): Good audio! The audio is good, no popping or crackling found in this set. But, sometimes the volume keep changing from one episode to another. But, it is nothing serious. Subs (1.5/5): One of those HK DVD that has the crappiest subs! The subs on this set is almost pure engrish! Strange grammar and words choice throughout the whole episodes. In some episodes, the timming also become a problem. Sometimes the subs come too late or too early. The subs is bad!! 'Nuff said! Packaging: Okay I guess!! Notes: There is only one opening and one ending in every disk! Overall: If you want to buy this set, better learn your engrish well, otherwise you are going to be very confuse!! ^_^ edited by peppy on 10 Mar 2002 12:57 am
