Video:

This is a rip of the R1 release so the quality is top notch. There are 7 episodes on the first disc and 6 on the second. I marked this down 1/2 star because of occasional aliasing issues on some fine line detail (like hair). This is a very minor quibble seeing that all the action scenes are without macroblocking and the colours are bright and crisp as they should be.

Audio:

For a show with music as a central theme it's a good thing they got this part right. Excellent stereo seperation and perfect balance between spoken word, music, and sound effects. I listened to both the English and Japanese tracks and they are both well mixed. I don't feel that the English voice actors captured the emotions as well as the original Japanese cast did but it's still bearable if you don't like watching video with subtitles.

Subtitle:

I almost deducted a half star because of one scene where the nice yellow subtitles are a little difficult to read against a white background. But that was only one scene in the entire 13 episodes and the timing and quality of these subs are direct from the R1.

Comment:

I love it when the perfect collections leave in all the chapter breaks like they did with this release. It makes it super easy to fast forward past opening and ending credits after you've seen them a few times. I usually don't go for the Yaoi titles but this one was pretty good. One of the main threads in the story is about the relationship between two men. My wife and I ended up getting sucked into the story right away and enjoyed it right through the ending. I could have done with just a little less "super-deformed" gags but that's part of this genre so you'd think that I was used to it by now. Definitely worth checking out if you're interested in a story driven by emotions rather than explosions.
