I used to own this set but I sold it and bought the Region 1 release. The video looks pretty good, but after seeing the re-mastering done by Pioneer for the Region 1 release, there is really no comparison. The colors just aren't nearly as vivid. (3.5/5) The audio is OK. No problems. (4/5) The subtitles are Engrish. Understandable? Sure. But grammatically incorrect most of the time, which is pretty annoying to me. (2.5/5) Given how great the re-mastered release of Akira on DVD from Pioneer is, I'd opt for that one even if it is a bit more expensive. Even if you buy the regular edition, you get new and improved (and perfectly translated) subtitles, a brand new (and better than before) English dub, along with an amazing looking re-mastered picture and sound. This movie simply deserves that kind of special treatment.
