Reviews for Macross TV Complete Collection

Overall:

Video:

Even though this title is a little old the video still looks great even today. Animation is smooth and I noticed no kind of pixilation or blocking even during the high action moments.

Audio:

Japanese audio only on this set and it was great. The songs from this series are classic and fantasic to hear again. No kind of distortion that I could find and it all sounded great even while it was only in regular stereo.

Subtitle:

These almost look like R1 rips to me even though I thought that this show never got the full treatment by any major studio. No engrish or spelling errors to be found and all subs were perfectly timed. They were a good size and had a yellow font that made them easy to read. It didn't seem that every song got subbed and that is the only reason I didn't give this a 5.

Comment:

Macross is a great series that has withstood the test of time along with Gundam 0079 and Yamato as one of the cornerstones of sci-fi anime. The set was in a nice gatefold package with plenty of beautiful artwork to go along with it. Fans of the newer Macross series such as Plus and Zero should check this one out. The dogfights are exciting even now and the characters are memorable. The movie "Do You Remember Love?" does a very good job of summing up the series but nothing beats getting to watch every episode of this classic show.
