Reviews for Dragonball Z Part 1

I held skepticism in regard to whether or not they could cram 15 episodes onto a disc and still retain a decent picture; it pleases me to write that they indeed manage this task successfully with very little problem. Certain points bring up pixelization, but these strike me as few and far between. For the most part, a high video quality, particularly on CRT TVs.

Audio:

Audio - dual mono I think - stands up well. No problems to report here. Nice and clear!

Ooookay....the subtitles for the most part avoid 'Engrish' - however a gamut of spelling mistakes and name errors exist to annoy me instead! Comprehensible, this viewer notes, but extremely sloppy in a lot of places, though nothing that significantly ruins one's viewing experience. Still better than some of the shitty HK subs I recently encountered.

Comment:

I rate this set highly, despite reservations with the subtitling (which I can easily overlook). Better than expected video quality and sound serve well this presentation of one of my favourite (anime and otherwise) series of all time! I look forward to viewing the next three sets....

The video quality was much better than i thought it would be. I mean i didnt think it was possible to get 75 episodes (especially of this damn show) on 5 dvds and still have very little, if at all pixelation.

Audio:

The audio was not to great. A little deep, but not horrible either. If you like alot of bass, then this set is for you =D

Subtitle:

I Had some problems with the subtitles. For one reason, EVERYONE calls Master Roshi, Master Goten when hes addressed as Muten-Roshi-sama. But when they say just Roshi, it comes out Roshi. Sun Gohan and Sun Goku. Not that bad. One eps subtitles were a little off, but aside from that its pretty good and right on.

Comment:

Well considering the set ends just before the fight with Freeza ensues, I say im upset and enjoyed. I really wanted to see Goku go Super Saiya-jin uncut for once, but ill have to wait for set 2 of this.
