Reviews for Rumiko Takahashi Theatre
Video:
Audio:
Subtitles:

Overall:

Video:

Video quality varies from episode to episode. Most look like really good VHS, and a few even look like DVD quality. A few episodes though, they are blatantly recorded off of Chinese TV (In one episode, some sort of news bullitin in Chinese keeps flashing on screen! ha) Overall really good quality.

Audio:

Other than a little hiss on a few of the episodes, real good quality. (The theme song is really catchy! Why is bad pop music sooo much better in Japanese? ;) )

Subtitle:

Not bad but far from great. There are many literal translations, like "Ritual has begun 5 minutes ago!" in place of "The wedding started 5 minutes ago!". He's and She's are often switched, or replaced with "it". Some names are changed, and there are typos and misspellings. Don't be scared though. On the upside, the subs are never unintelligible, and its easy to tell what is going on. The timing is perfect, and there are no dropped lines.

Comment:

Rumiko Takahashi Theatre is a collection of 13 episodes, each one with it's own story. Although some of the episodes are a little weak, many of them have great humor and charm. The stories revolve around everyday life in Japan. Well, everyday life with flying grandmothers and CEOs in pink bunny suits! Great charming animation that one would expect from Rumiko Takahashi. I wouldn't say that this is for everyone, but it makes a great addition to any Rumiko Takahashi fan's collection.
