The DVD is more than I had excepted in the first moment. I really liked to watch Yami no matsuei animated.

well it wasnt bad .. Video : ok 4/5 Sound: ok too 4/5 Subs : few mistakes and mistimed subs but only for a bit.... 3.5-4.0 (seen really worse) Content ... i found it a bit stale, i didnt like the "subtle" yaoi innuendo and some of the fights were cheesy.. however the art was really good ,although a bit more girl-influenced (i mean most characters were there to be oogled by girl-fans just as i oogle at mahoro for example -yeah i know im weird) all in all not a bad set ......

Video: REALLY, REALLY great. There are 13 episodes and they fit perfectly on 2 DVDs. There's nothing to complain about. Audio: The audio was actually pretty good too. I couldn't notice any problem. Subtitle: Very good subs! All the names were correct. The only problem was the off timing in the beginning of the first episode. The rest were above average for HK DVDs. Comments: I really like this series. The animation is just beautiful. Very, very good. The story is so cool. Don't hestitate to buy this set because of the male-male relationship thingy. There isn't a lot and it's only suggestive. (To top it off, there was one male-male kissing scene and that's all!) This is a really good anime. If you like anime that are dark and deep, Yami no Matsuei is for you. Besides, this is also a very good HK DVD set!

Very good. The series explains how the whole shinigami thing works, so nothing is left un-understood. On my set [and perhaps others] disc two had a defect in that English subs could not be accessed from the DVD menu, but if you use the sub button on the remote while playing it causes no trouble.

Comment:

Don't be discouraged by the cover art-- as this is a shoujo series, any girls that might be competing with you for the characters [all bishonen] are only around for a few episodes. I bought this after reading a manga reviews and liked it muchly

VIDEO: pretty good. AUDIO: there's a background hum throughout, but it's only noticeable during quiet segments. Aside from this, the audio's also pretty good. SUBS: inconsistant. For the first several episodes they're really good, and then, for a few of the later episodes they're Engrish. On Disc 1, the spoken intro that describes the supernatural agency the protagonists work for is unsubbed; on disc 2 (by which time you've figured it out) it is subbed. Some of the ending & beginning sections have been chopped out. I had some menu troubles with disc 2: pressing "Play All" returned me to the main menu. All in all, a pretty good set. Definitely worth seeing once, but for me, given that this sensitive male to male bonding stuff is not my cup of tea, not a keeper.
