Video:

I noticed one or two brief scenes with some pixelation happening that look to be caused by over compression (2 hours 30 minutes on this disc). Also, the colours can look a bit faded at times but I think that's due to the age of the original.

Audio:

I didn't notice the hum mentioned by the previous reviewer but I did find that the audio levels were inconsistent. One scene would be loud and the next would be quiet. It wasn't an extreme difference from scene to scene but I did find it hard to hear a few times.

Subtitle:

The subtitles are clear and easy to read in plain english. I found the translation used for the dubs to be better but the voice acting was much worse (as is typical). I only gave this a 4 because I would like to have seene better translations as far as content is concerned.

Comment:

This series feels like hentai without the sex or nudity. There is a bit of tentacle action and a fair amount of gore to the whole thing which makes it definitely not for kids. I also found the animation to be inconsistent. Some scenes (especially the gory ones) were superbly detailed and well animated while other scenes were way below average in both detail and frame rates. Overall, I found the story to be fairly slow paced and difficult to follow due to poor editing choices. The few action scenes are great and I believe there is more to this story than we get in the anime but it feels like it was thrown together in a hurry.

Comment:

Video - 4/5 Very nice but looks a little grainy. Perhaps this may have something to do with the show being old or maybe the R1s video quality wasn't so great. Audio - 3/5 There's a buzzing sound heard in the first episode. English dub included Subs - 5/5 Perfect subs
