It tells the story of the epic struggle between the Galactic Empire (a dynastic monarchy based on 19th century Prussia) and the Free Planets Alliance, a nominal democracy. The scope of LotGH is epic, with hundreds of characters with complex relationships and space battles on a grand scale involving thousands of ships in precise formations.
