Reviews for One Piece TV Series Part 1

R2 DVD quality, no blurry scene. Almost every action/fast moving and fighting are pixellated. It gets annoying near the end because all 52 episodes are pixellated. I saw it was less pixellated after episode 15 because the intermission didn't have any pixellation at all. The graphic are great in One Piece, the character design are well-made and I like the expression on their face whenever they get attacked or gets irritated by the other's crew member.

Audio:

No problem detected. I really enjoyed the first opening "We are" and the one "Believe" Those song rocks

All 5 DVD: 3/5. Sadly, the sub is dissapointing. Most of the character's name are wrong expect for a few one (Nami is mispelled Namy but it basically the same thing). Here's a list of a few wrong name you'll experience when watching it: Wrong Name = Right Name Monchy D Roof = Monkey D. Luffy Sunkist = Sanji (except on Episode 28 where the name is right for a change) Crook Bu/Liar Bu = Usopp Roroya Sauro = Roronoa Zoro Parchy = Buggy Calbrate = Carlbater Click = Don Krieg Dragon = Arlong Lily = Yoshiko (Nami's sister ???) Coya = Kayo Darshee = Darcy (In the french manga, Usopp is called Pippo and Sanji is Sandy, ridiculous name isn't it) Episode 28 of One Piece is fansub quality, almost all the names are right (except Luffy) the translation are top-notch and there are few mispelled words in it. Also, the last 6 episodes of the 5th DVD (where Luffy and the gang goes to Loguetown) is near fansub quality, only the main character name are wrong but the rest is way better than the first 4 DVD, there are some mixup in verbs and male-female gender but the rest is good. Why didn't they do the first 4 DVD like this ??? There are many many many mispelled words in it. I would say that there is 1 mistake every 5 phrases (1:5 ratio). Most of them consist of one letter mistake like garde = garden, so I'm warning you right away, the ratio for the mispelled words are horrible. I would say that there is 200-400 mispelled words in all for all 52 episodes (and I'm not joking about it). Many phrases have the wrong verb attach to it like "I've chose to fight" instead of "I've choosen to fight". Pretty annoying The translation from japanese to english is sometime good, sometime bad. Most of the phrase are engrishy but there are easy to understand (not all of them). One word is missing in most case, but with an engrishy translation, anything can happen. The ponctuation/syntax could have been better Overall, weak sub

I liked One Piece very much. An anime that involves pirates, treasures, now that's a great idea for a storyline and it's the first time i've seen this type of anime in my life. There were many funny moment in One Piece: At one time, a navy ship shots a cannonball right at Luffy ship, so he uses he body as a springboard and reflects the ball right back at them Poor guys, never knew what hit them HAHAHAHAHA. All the character in One Piece are pretty interesting to follow: Luffy ate a "Devil Fruit" when he was young so now his body is made of rubber (like Dhalsim from Streetfighter) so he can reflects bullets, heavy mace hits, balls (from a cannon), he can hyper-extend his neck, arms and legs from mile away and hit the guy before he realize what's happening to him. He always say the truth, like when a pirate queen is ugly and her follower say that she's beautiful, Luffy say "You're ugly", all the follower jaw's dropped to the floor and Luffy keeps his smile all the time. Usopp uses a slingshot for a weapon and chicken out every time he faces a fearsome foe. Nami has a bow, likes to steal and love teasing the boys to get what she wants and Sanji loves to cook and uses his feet to create mayhem everywhere he goes. Roronoa Zoro is by far the best character in the anime. He uses 3 swords to fight against the enemy. He made a promise long ago to a girl that he will become the strongest swordman in the world. His fight scene are awseome to see, with a sword in each hand and a sword in his mouth (he's holding it with his teeth). He uses special move to eliminate his opponent in a instance, way cool to see. This guy can take one hell of a beating, I'm surprised that he keeps on ticking even do he's badly wounded. Some fighting scene were awseome to see. 2 of them really pops in my head. One is Luffy against Carlbater, this guy uses his long sharp claw nails (like Wolverine in X-Men), his final move consist of him running at the speed of light while slashing anything in his path (a.k.a Berserk mode), that move was great to see, Luffy with his rubber body puts up a good fight with him, that's one fighting scene I enjoyed very much The other one involves Zoro and Milford (a.k.a Eagles Eyes), he has a sword that can slash a ship in 4 pieces, that was one of the best fighting scene i've seen in a while. Zoro attack with three swords but Milford stops him with a little knive, you should see the look of Zoro face after that HAHAHAHAHA, the ending sequence was spectacular, jaw dropping ect.. ect.. There are more fighting scene in it but these 2 really takes the cake Overall, One Piece keeps getting better and better. I can't wait to see how thing will go in the next 3 part (One Piece is now at 189 episodes in Japan), if you like this kind of anime with pirate and treasure hunt (and lots of fighting), this is for you. Give it a try and you won't regret cause I didn't regret it at all. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMANDED Extras: Textless opening one and two, and ending one and two Packaging: Nice cover (from left to right), Usopp, Zoro, Luffy, Nami and Sanji while inside the case, you see a character on each DVD

Excellent DVD R2 Rip with the only problem being the pixlelation in the fast moving sequences. Very nice here.

Audio:

Surround sound qulaity is here! I watched the whole thing on my surround sound system and man is it awsome!

Subtitle:

Not bad most of the time and very understandable. All subs are white in colour and are not always consistent. It seems there are two different types of HK subs being used with one being better than the other. There are grammar problems and misspelled names but overall very understandable.

Packaging: 5/5!!! Very awsome art for the box and the discs! Each and every disc features one of the five main characters with beautiful backgrounds from the box. It is the fold out kind so its really sleek and smooth. You cant tell this is a fake set or not because it is simply too good to be true. I think the art for both the box and discs are taken directly from the R2 DVDS. Summary: This set is a must have for collectors as the video, audio, and packaging are just awsome. All the intros and endings are intact for every episode. I think this set is ripped from the FX set (or the other way around?). I dont own the FX set but it would be hard to imagine that set showing a better packaging job than this one. Anyhow get this set! Definatly worth the money!
