Reviews for Yami No Matsuei Perfect Collection

Beautiful video... once you find a DVD player that will load the DVD. I had problems with both discs on my Sony DVP-NS315 (unable to load DVDs) and my PC's DVD-Rom drive... however, the discs both played perfectly on my junky Malata DVD player, and my PS2. Go figure. EDIT: I found that I am able to play both of these DVD's without issue on my Sony DVD player... if I put the disc in, power the DVD player off, and power it on with the disc in. Then both DVDs load fine. Why? Who knows. Don't ask me. ;)

Audio:

Sounds great in both Japanese voice track and English. The music comes through clear and crisp. Typical of a solid FX release.

Subtitle:

No problems here. The subtitles were very close to the English language track where I tested it (sporadically throughout the series). Again, typical for an FX release based of an R1 source.

Comment:

Solid series, through and through. I was a little disappointed with the problem playing the DVDs in a couple of my players... I had the same issue with the Rurouni Kenshin OVA set from FX... it must have been the DVD media they used.. just couldn't load it in my higher end players. Ah well... small complaint, really. Worth picking up if you like the goth/horror type of show... though it wasn't -too- serious to swallow, thankfully (due to a good deal of silliness interspersed throughout the show). Recommended viewing. EDIT: I found that I am able to play both of these DVD's without issue on my Sony DVD player... if I put the disc in, power the DVD player off, and power it on with the disc in. Then both DVDs load fine. Why? Who knows. Don't ask me. ;)

Video was perfect

Audio:

Audio was great, I only watched with the Japanese audio, so I cannot speak for the english dub.

Subtitle:

The subs were perfect and bright yellow, some reviewers said that they were cut off at the bottom of the screen, i did not have this problem, but i did notice they were lower than usual. Watching on a 27" TV by the way.

Comment:

The series wasn't that bad other than the unneeded yaoi parts, it did have some extras and the menu's looked pretty good.

No complaints in video. Very crisp and clean image.

Audio:

The Japanese track seemed a bit louder than the English dubbing track.

Subtitle:

The subs are crips with the exception that it's cut off a little at the bottom of the screen.

Comment:

Yami no Matsuei (Decendants of Darkness) is a great series. I highly recommend it to yaoi or even non-yaoi fans looking for a great plot, characterization and charisma.

Mine wasn't completely perfect, because at every midpoint, the disc would want to skip a little. Thankfully, it never just stopped playing but it got a little pixeled because of it.

Audio:

Perfect audio for both English and Japanese tracks.

Subtitle:

As stated above, the bottom of the subs are slightly cut off. Other than that, I have no problem with them.

Comment:

This is a very good show. I personally love anime that feature shounen-ai, so this was quite a treat. In that department, it's only shadowed by Gravitation and Fake. FX once again proves to be the best, by jamming everything into just two DVDs and saving us cheapskates tons of money. XD If you like supernatural and shounen-ai, get this! You'll love it! No pixelations at all! Smooth flowing. Almost, if not exactly, like the R1s.

Audio:

Audio in both English and Japanese Language. Very clear.

Subtitle:

Almost perfect. Didn't give it a 5 because I did notice 1 or 2 lines of missing subtitles throughout the whole series. Would have given a 4.99.

Comment:

It is a beautiful show, with beautiful graphics. Everything's great except that the story did not go into depths about the main character's background. Pieces of information scattered a little here and there. The story does not seem to be completed too, the villian always manages to survive. The show does show some "homosexuality ideas", so if you are not comfortable with the idea, just skip the show. However, the scenes are actually not much of a big deal.

Wonderful video, i found no pixealation whasoever

Audio:

contains Japanese and English audio. No problems

Subtitle:

No missing Subs and no timing problems. Why don't i give it a 5 ? because in some rare ocasions a tiny, really tiny (hardly noticeable) of the subs at the bottom seem to be cut off , because they are low on the screen (don't know if it's a R1 problem). It's hardly noticeable, but 5 is for perfection...so it gets a 4.5

Comment:

The only extras it contains are some Trailers , and a presentacion of the CPM manga catalogue. Menus are in english, since it's a r1 rip

no pixelations Perfect

Audio:

both track sound great although the english track ( in my opinion ) has some weird voices when it'S the small bird talking

Subtitle:

clear yellow subs all present all there PERFECT!! Even at the 12th episode when Suzaku speaks to Tsuzuki the line is finally subbed!!! Note that on My TV the subs were visible no subs cut at bottom of screen, think that has to do with the tv and not the dvd.

Comment:

If you're a true fan and are in love with this series get this set!!! I have the 3 DVD by Manga but I wanted the best of the best and I finally found it!! Great mini series, a bit of comedy through it but lots of intriguing well placed plots and twists. You also have Openings, Endings and Previews of each episode to come all subbed.
