Reviews for Magical Girl Do-Re-Mi TV Part 1

Overall:

Video:

R2 ripped. There is some slight pixelation now and then. Prologue, opening, preview and ending are there for each episode.

Audio:

Nothing to complain about, except that there's a always a short pause after the opening. It seems that the opening is only one time on the disc and when it plays before each episode there's a short time lag when the laser has to move back to the episode.

Subtitle:

Very good HK originals. Most names are right (Doremi = Doremi) or very close (Dodo = Toutou), but some are totally off (Seki = Kan). Although there are some of the usual grammar errors ("I" and "you", "he" and "she" mixed up etc.) and some translations are a little bit off ("fairy" translated as "gremlin"), everything remains perfectly understandable. I might have given it 4 stars, but the sub font they used is absolutely horrible (see screenshots). It even looks worse on TV.

Comment:

This is my 100th review (tadaaa!) and I present you one of my favorites: Ojamajo Doremi! Everyone should watch it. It's really fun to watch, even if you're older than 6. Unfortunately, it seems that this series wasn't a commercial success for the HK companies. I guess it's because the young target audience has some problems reading subtitles. So we only get 16 episodes out of the 200 that are available on R2. But as the episodes are more or less self-contained, you can enjoy watching this set. Still, I wish that there was more of it. I would buy it.
