Overall:

Video:

Nice TV rip, taped on VHS. There are no disturbances in the TV signal, but you get some tape glitches and colour blur due to the tape recording. Still, perfectly watchable.

Audio:

I noticed background noise on some episodes. Apart from that there was no problem.

Subtitle:

Now here we have a strange mix. For episode 1-12 the subs are very understandable HK originals with some minor grammar faults and one big fault: nearly all names are screwed up. Like: Katase Shima = Pielagyma. And don't ask me what strange names they gave to some things that had English names in the Japanese dub (like "Astroball" or "Great Mission"). From episode 13 on the subs are nearly perfect, probably based on fansubs. Good grammar and wording and almost all names right. Only problem there was the amount of typing errors. This can get irritating sometimes, if "bra" is typed "bar". In episode 19 or 20 (or both?) the HK originals with wrong names return, at least for some lines. Felt like one of the HK translators "corrected" the fansubs ;) After that it's excellent subs with some typing errors up to the end.

Comment:

This is a rip of the MI version (logo shows up). Space Academy anime. Is this already a genre on its own? This series doesn't play in the same league as "Crest of the Stars" or "Infinite Ryvius", but it wasn't bad. The set isn't bad either. The "subjective" quality-impression I had for this set was actually better than the 3.5 stars indicate. So if you like Space Academy stuff and heroic tasks to save mankind with some little romance thrown in, I can recommend this set. Equipment used: Kenwood DVF-3080 PAL player, cheap Grundig 27" PAL stereo TV
