Simply WOW! Can't say how much I was impressed by the high picture quality.
Audio:
Also great! The Kenshin Soundtracks goes for itself and through video and soundsystem you feel like sitting in cinema.
Subtitle:
Well, how could e be something other than perfect. Remember it's a Rip from the normal version.
Comment:
Can't say anything to the english dub., because I really hate it. But the japanese one is excellent. It was the first time I had seen Kenshin in a quality as high as that. (My fansubs Tapes are more than bad). I really enjoyed this series.

This set would have got a 5 if it wasn?t for the minor pixilation and some weird black thing on the screen in one episode. I don?t know how to describe it or where it was exactly so I can?t help you there but overall the video was really good for this set. The episode distribution was pretty even which helped this series and stopped many of the problems that could have surfaced. So over all this sets video is pretty damn good with a few MINOR problems that can easily be forgiven.
Audio:
The audio part of it well there isn?t a whole hell of a lot that can be said because it was fine and unless I missed something there were no real problems. The voices fit the characters personalities just fine and everything was done quite well with this series. Bottom line is that I have no complaints about the audio. This anime has a ghreat soundtrack and the high sound quality just adds to the enjoyment.
Subtitle:
Much like the audio there were no problems that I could see as far as the subs go. The grammar and the spelling for this set were just fine which is always good.
Comment:
Rurouni Kenshin is one of my personal favorites as far as anime goes and this set was well worth the $69 dollars I picked it up for. Everything content wise was good as far as the story goes up till the last episode for the most part even though the third part isn?t as good as the everything that leads up to it. For some reason it seemed like everyone who had worked on the previous episodes of Kenshin dropped out and they hired some lazy story writer and artists. If you see the last episode you will see exactly what I mean. Overall though this series is definitely a keeper.

just finished 2 episodes and the quality is in fact good and since I don?t have the R1 I can?t compare with them but still it?s a safe buy although other factors will play a role in rating it (like the kind of DVD Player you use , how big is your TV , and how picky can you get ) EDIT: finished this wonderful series. lowered video from 4.5 to 4.0. the quality isn't spectacular on a PC and the compression might be more noticeable on a PC , but on a TV its *OK* there are 2 or 3 times the video skips for 2 seconds, i believe its at the end of the Box 1 set, no big deal
Audio:
I?m surprised no body mentioned that the sound is in ?Dolby Pro Logic? , my decoder?s light shows that and I can here the background music on the rear speakers. The dub is clear and crisp EDIT: only the english track is in DPL , japanese track is in 2.0 5 starts for the english track...
Subtitle:
the sub is fantastic , I?m planning on first watching it in DUB then after sometime I?ll watch it again in SUB "see pictures of subs color and size"
Comment:
In the end I?m extremely pleased and happy hardware: DVD Player TIT (T-602) , TV 21" using s-video, creative inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 EDIT: recommended with the note of a *little* drop in video quality will add more fighting snaps

I can't believe no one said anything about how bad the video is in this set. The video is ok sometimes, but other times its bad enough for me to call it bad vhs quality. Its even as bad as the FX escaflowne set. I know i shouldn't expect rips to be as good as the real R1s but they definitely should be better than this. It really ticks you off when you look at the outtakes on some of the disks and the video is near perfect whereas on the episodes the video quality is crappy. The video is really good on some episodes but for the most part it ranges for average to crap. Its not that there is pixelation, it just really looks bad.
Audio:
From reading reviews i expected worse from the audio. Thought the audio is not in pace with the video is a bunch of episodes you only notice it like in 2-3 episodes. In the other episodes its not a problem at all, and you wont really notice it.
Subtitle:
The subtitles are great R1 rip.
Comment:
I thought the video was going to be better. That was my only real problem with this set. The extras were great, and some of the outtakes were really funny, but i would have given them up in a second for better audio.

Awesome video. Just fine.

Sometimes, it'd go out of sync for me.
Subtitle:
Perfect subs from R1 release.
Comment:
FX really did an awesome job on this set. All the extras were included, even the funny-as-hell outtakes at the end of the Kyoto Saga. Definitely the $100 or so is a steal of a price, compared to the $500+ it'd be to buy each of the R1 DVDs, or $350ish for the three box sets. Kenshin's a great show, despite what the OVA diehards would tell you. I will warn you, tho, that quality in storylines plummet after the Kyoto Saga. I liked the first story after it and after that, it got real boring. I'm surprised I toughed it out and watched it all.

Disc 1: Good video, some pixelation, but not too much. Disc 2: The video on this disc is noticably better than the first disc. The colors seem a bit more vibrant. There was some random yellow screen for a split second during episode 13. Disc 3: Same video as disc 2. Great picture, not a lot of pixelation Disc 4: Same. Disc 5: Same. Disc 6: Same. Disc 7: Same. Disc 8: Same. Disc 9: Same. Disc 10: Same. Disc 11: Same. Disc 12: Same.
Audio:
Disc 1: The Japanese audio is out of sync by maybe 1/2 a second on episode 8. The English dub is fine. Disc 2: There is another out of sync Japanese audio on episode 12, the second half of 15 and all of 16. English dub was fine Disc 3: Episode 21 & 22 out of sync on Japanese audio. English dub is fine. Disc 4: Epsiode 25 is slightly out of sync, but it is not as noticable. English dub is fine. Disc 5: there are 2-3 episodes with the out of sync dub. English is fine. Disc 6: This disc bugged me. At least 4 episodes are out of sync. English is fine. Disc 7: 2-3 episodes out of sync. English is fine. Disc 8: 2 episodes out of sync. English is fine. Disc 9: all good. Disc 10: all good. Disc 11: all good. Disc 12: all good.
Subtitle:
Disc 1: The subs are great, but in the 'preview' part for episodes 5-8 all repeat the same set of subtitles. It is something you might not notice at all except if you are watching several episodes in a row. The English dub fills you in if you really want to know what it going on. Disc 2: Perfect. Disc 3: Perfect. Disc 4: Perfect. Disc 5: Perfect. Disc 6: Perfect. Disc 7: Perfect. Disc 8: Perfect. Disc 9: Perfect. Disc 10: Perfect. Disc 11: Perfect. Disc 12: Perfect.
Comment:
I am going to review this one disc at at time as I finish each disc. So far the set is very cool. I did a final check on all the discs, checked all the chapter stops and there are no playing problems. I encountered skips in Episode #38 and #40 skipping at: 201:54, 214:32, and 252:43. It stalls, and then jumps ahead like 10 seconds. I can scan back, but it still skips right around those times. On the audio, in a 95 episode set, there are about 20 episodes that have Japenese audio that is either slightly ahead or behind the video. It just depends on how much something like that bugs you. If you are a fan of dubs, then you will have no issues with this set. The extras are great. Outtakes, creditless openings, closings, galleries, etc... Very nice. The subs are great all throughout the set. This set is basically the best Kenshin set out there. For the money you can't go wrong here. I loved it.

Video:
Good video Quality, menu system is easy to navigate, some pixilation during high action scenes.
Audio:
Japanese dub was a bit slow with the video, certain scenes where impacts such as sword strikes and vocal sync are off by a few. English dub was sync'd ok without any noticeable delays.
Subtitle:
The subs were very accurate and no noticeable misspellings, However, there are times where the subs would disappear too quikly and the next line would show. Bit annoying but still good.
Comment:
Had some difficulty with one of my dvd players. But after trying it out on an Apex and a PS2 the problem appears to have been alleviated. Awesome gatefold as well, nicely designed.

I have no complaints about the video quality, but I also am not super picky about it. There was one episode where there was a lot of fuzziness in the background *almost like when you watch a film, those black things that somtimes appear if the negative is dusty*, but other than that, I noticed nothing else.
Audio:
Great sound, the Japanese track is sweet. I don't listen to the dubbing, so I can't say about that. There are one or two episodes that are slightly desynched, but they occur early on in the series, way before it starts getting really good, so no worries.
Subtitle:
Subtitling is R1 rip quality. That means you get "Battousai the manslayer" instead of "Hitokiri Battousai", but it also means that the subs are just about perfect. There are some subs that go by slightly fast, and once in a long while, a word will be left out, but in those cases, your eyes will hardly even notice them, since you will be reading the entire context, and your brain will fill in all the missing words.
Comment:
For the price you can get it at, this series is unbelivable. Comes in two nice gatefolds, and also a sweet box. Menus are all right off the R1's, and you get some of the extras as well *though not the notes about Japanese translations, etc*. Instead of unloading $400 + on the 22 R1's, just pick this set up from ebay or here, you won't be dissappointed. FX is seriously one of the greatest importing companies, their other stuff is just amazing.

99% Perfect. There are a few small scenes that go by in a second or two that is pixelated. Mainly in close up fast scenes. Don't be discouraged, it doesn't happen very often and is gone in a blink of an eye. Besides that, this show is perfect.
Audio:
Your normal 2.0 dolby prologic japanese and english track. Of course the japanese track has a richer sound to it but the dub is great too.
Subtitle:
I like watching english dub but i do have subs on. (Anime is just to action packed in my opinion to have subs on.) I do this to cross reference in some scenes you have a feeling something else was said in the original. Not very many problems at all, a few misspelled words, a few lines slightly slow. Nothing to bad.
Comment:
I have this set but mine is a slightly pre-release. I just dont have the box that holds both halfs but it is the same thing. Plus, it would take forever to get a review on this because look how many episodes there are. This set has extra's on each disk. Things like outakes when the dub was being recorded, a few misc pictures, information, etc. It was worth every penny in my opinion. FX is just amazing on this stuff.
