No major problems; you get what you pay for.

Audio:

No noticeable fuzz; perfectly clear.

Subtitle:

Constant name switches with sentances so awkwardly construed that first time viewers have no real hope of figuring out what the constantally changing term (be it a name of a person, name of a country, name of a corperation...) is refering to, even if they recognize the many alternate (right...) spellings. Uhg, this is such a dialogue intense series that frankly, the subtitle errors are unforgiveable.

Comment:

Because of the subtitles, I really can't recommend this.

The first four episodes have verticle lines where the colour darkens a bit running across the screen. You can see it best in the second and third screen shots I've posted. Look at the skin tones to see specifically what I'm talking about. This is mildly distracting at first but you can tune it out. The remaining 8 episodes are gorgeous with only very minor instances of pixellation that happen during cross fade transitions.

Audio:

The sound is great on this whole release with perfect sound levels and no hissing or popping. Most importantly the soundtrack is preserved so you can enjoy the rich music that accompanies this series. Probably the only show that has better integration with its soundtrack is Cowboy Bebop.

Ouch. I'm thinking that I may be a bit on the generous side with my two stars but the timing is good and the subtitles are easy to read so I can honestly say that I've seen worse. This series depends on the conversaions to move it along. Unfortunately, this is some of the worst Engrish that I've seen in a release in a very long time. The names change from time to time (Jack becomes Jerk or Jerke for example), genders are confused (the princess is often referred to as "he"), and the over all phrasing is very difficult to understand.

Comment:

This is a perfect rip of the MI release. I'm told that version has the exact same problems this one does. I'm looking forward to seeing the R1s of this story (or at least a perfect version) so I can enjoy all the twists and turns the story takes. Best of all, one of the main characters drives a Zagato that's been souped up with spy gadgets. It's become my second favourite car in anime now (after the Mach 5 but nudging Lupin Fiat down to number 3).
