I Love the how different both of the films are. the one the animation is exactly the same as the series itself. the other is drawn and colored much differently with an almost light pastel color to it
Audio:
found no visable errors other then sound is very quiet. you almost have to turn the volume up half way to hear certain scenes especially in the second film
Subtitle:
no complaints with the subtitles
Comment:
I am not even a Kenshin fan and I did enjoy this series pretty good. Both films are done so different it was like watching two different series completely. Both films have very deep stories that suck you in and really pay attention to catch every little tidbit. Definatelly worth picking up if you are or even if you are not a fan of the series itself

Great Video, no problems visible, very clear, but a little dark in some scenes but maybe its supposed tobe that way.
Audio:
Great sound but sometimes I had to turn up the volume at certain points to hear it.
Subtitle:
Great subtitles, but I still prefer the dubbed version.
Comment:
This is a great series if you want to see a little of what happened before and after Ruroni Kenshin and the movie is good too. The only downside of this series is Kenshin doesn't seem as fast and he doesn't use any of his moves.

Great Stuff!!! The quality is amazing! It's almost like it doesn't miss a movement at all!
Audio:
The english keeps you in the story, but it is a little low and the backround music is a little loud. Besides that,it's all good!
Subtitle:
It seems to keep in touch with the story really well. You won't get confused.
Comment:
If you were wondering how Kenshin got his cross-shaped scar on his cheek or you wanted to know what happened to everyone after the last episode of the TV series, then this is perfect for you. The amazing story lines and wonderful animation will keep you on the edge of your seat. It's a bargain!

The video looked really good, the movie itself had pretty good quality not the best but it was good however the OVAs had really great quality diffently an R1 rip.
Audio:
Audio was great didnt notice any out of sync problems everything seemed right in place great in both english and japanese.
Subtitle:
the subs were great, like mention before there is a couple of times when black subs apper on the screen during the movie however that only happens when theres two people talking so you dont get confused on whos saying what, however thats it very minor problem, the ovas on the other hand had flawless subs.
Comment:
What a great set to own all of this for only about 20 bucks. The movie is good the OVAs of the back story were awesome i loved it, the two final ovas were kinda dissapointing i just hated how they tried to twist everything around making it seem as if kenshin was always sad and depressed, its like come on if you wanna make the whole story match make it accurate dont change it around. Anyway all in all the whole set itself is great, worth getting for the movie and for the trust and betrayal ovas.

The video on the Ruroni Kenshin Movie gets a 4 out of 5. It is o.k., but it has noticable pixelation in the high action sequences. The OVA's on the other hand are a 5 out of 5. The video quality is just perfect. I tried to be picky and look for ANY pixelation, but it wasn't there. Nice work.
Audio:
For my normal setup it was fine. No out of sync audio, drop outs, pops, or hisses. I only watched the Japanese audio.
Subtitle:
The subtitles were a mixed bag. On some of the OVA's they were perfect. Several times on the movie those annoying and hard to read black subs popped up quite often, but honestly I never missed any lines and overall they were fine.
Comment:
I watched this set after finishing the entire T.V. boxed set and I am very glad I did. I thought the movie was really cool and fun to watch, but it seemed pretty scattered and hard to follow what the story was. The sequel and prequel OVA's were the best part of the set. The first disc has the movie and the 4 part prequel OVA. The second disc has the 2 part sequel OVA and the 'director's cut' of the prequel. That means that all the episodes are shown without any breaks and there are the 'black bars' at the top and bottom of the screen. I also noticed some on screen text that gave some historical information that wasn't in the 4 part version. I'd say I prefer the director's cut over the 4 part OVA. I HIGHLY recommend this set to Kenshin fans and fans of sword-fighting and samurai stuff. But I would also recommend that you watch the T.V. series first, but with the great FX prices you can get both for around $100 which is an awesome deal and well worth it.

the video was not as good as it could have been. They put THe kenshin movie and the first OVA in the first disk and SeisouHen (the second ova) on the second disk. I dont know if its that they put more stuff on the first disk, but the video quality sure isn't as good ans the second disk. The first episode of the first OVA starts out fine, but by the end of the first episode you can already see the decreasing quality of the video. The picture gets a little faded, or kinda grainy. At the end of the first episode there is a scene where the screen is mostly black, and you can see that instead of being really black, its the kind of black you get after washing a black shirt a couple of dozen times.
Audio:
Audio was excellent. I hear it through my stereo and it left nothing to be desired.
Subtitle:
R1 rip. No missing lines. Really easy to read.
Comment:
In the first disk, because they put the movie and the first ova together, you dont get the real menu that comes with those dvds but another one, with a really bad song playing from the movie. For the second one you get the actual Reaflection (seisouHen) R1 menu. The movie was OK, but the real star in this set is the first OVA. if your a fan of Kenshin you have to see it.

First off, the set is basically great. The first disk is the only thing that is really bad about the set. On the first disk is the samauri x movie. It is the movie based the kenshin tv series and is also known as requim for a dream. This movie was alittle disappointing. The quality seems alittle pixelated. The second disk which includes the ova is great. If there was any pixelation, it wasn't easily visable.
Audio:
For the most part it is all 2.0 pro-logic japanese and english dub tracks. On the second disk which includes the ova, it had 5.1.
Subtitle:
Spot checked, nothing to bad. You have 2 different subs. One for just the subbed version and one translating summary information and japanese writing during the set.
Comment:
This set was great. The ova part was great, just the requim for a dream movie was alittle disappointing as far as video quality. The movie wasn't bad but i have a different hk requim for a dream and it was more crisp than this fx version.

Close to perfect. The video doesn't seem as sharp as it should be but only by a small margin. It's apparent in the really dark scenes that the video isn't entirely crisp. But that's just nit picking in an otherwise great transfer.
Audio:
Pitch perfect. I watched everything in Japanese and it was outstanding. I checked out the Enlgish dub and it seemed to be perfectly in sync. Pump up the volume and enjoy Taku Iwasaki's amazing score for both OVA series!
Subtitle:
Absolutely flawless. Not a single missed line. I must note however that there was a mix up on the language select menu where the "Japanese w/ English subs" and the "Japanese" options were switched. Nothing big but something to know.
Comment:
What can I say...Trust & Betrayal are among my all time favorite pieces of animation. The story is so moving and is brilliantly directed. Taku Iwasaki's score is haunting and poignant. Truly a work of art and perhaps the greatest representation of the samurai put on film since Kurosawa. Seisouhen is considered the black horse in the series. I personally found it moving in it's finality but concede that it could (and should) have been so much more. I wish Sony allowed the filmmakers to animate the entire series to it's end and then finished it with Seisouhen. That would have been perfect. I say do yourself a favor and get your hands on the Kenshin manga to really get the entire story then enjoy the heartbreaking finale. The movie keeps in line with the television series' art design and is a nice addition to the series even though it's disposable as a stand alone film. It's pretty much the equivalent to a story arc from the tv series made into a single film with more blood and violence. Still I love Kenshin and the series is utter greatness so it's required viewing for all fans.

Beautiful, Picture was perfect, very low if any pixelation.

No complaints here, another great rip by FX!!!
Subtitle:
Great R1 rips so you get no Engrish or mistiming, only complaint are the dark subtitles when two or more characters are talking.
Comment:
This is the whole reason I started watching Kenshin, about 4 years ago I imported the first OAV and fell in love, the animation is one of the most beautifullest I have ever seen and it is so fluid. I hate to disagree with the first reviewer, but I loved the second oav, I thought it was the perfect ending for the Kenshin saga, be wary o ye weak-hearted... and get the tissues out because this is the final installment of Kenshin. The movie kicked ass as well!!!

Had to give this video a 4 even though it is an R1 rip because when I was viewing disc 1 on a 27" TV there was many macro blocks in the High Motion sceens, which is the best parts I might add, I tested it out with a 2nd DVDplayer and there was little difference, but when viewed on a 13" TV it was not as noticable but still there a little. I tened to be picky with video also, is still very watachable but if you are picky about the video like myself then you will definatly notice what I have experienced.
Audio:
Both the Eng and Jap audio tracks sounded wonderful to me, though I don't have a 5.1 sound setup nor know if the DVD has 5.1 audio, but the sound was flawless when either listened to on my TV speakers or run thoug my Stero system.
Subtitle:
Subtitles were AwSoMe, definatly R1 rips here and perfectly timed. Just had to knock the rating down a bit because when you get to the parts when more then one person is talking the 2nd set of subs are completly BLACK, and when you get to the darker parts of the anime then it is a bit tricky to read, but the transulations and times are done great.
Comment:
Well to myself the OVA #1 (Trust and Betrayl) is my fav of the Kenshin series. Movie was well done also was not to bad. But the 2nd OVA which takes place after the movie and TV series was a BIG disappoitnment I have to say. Personally I was expecting much more from it and was a bit let down to myself. So if you are planning on getting this only get it for the Movie or the First OVA eps ^_~
