Overall:
Video:
no problems at all.
Audio:
all of the tracks sound great.
Subtitle:
the way they translated the japanese at some parts made it a little hard to understand (they tried their best), but nothing to serious.
Comment:
Studio Ghibli has done it again. This has earned it's place to be on my book shelf, the story is a little weird at first and some of the characters are reused from Ghibli's "Mimi wo Sumeseba". Also, they as a bonus they gave you episode 2 of the Ghiblis which is alone worth getting the dvd (I just wish they would release episode 1)

Seems like a very good R2 rip, 16:9 aspect ratio (wide screen). No reason to complain, the picture is very sharp. I watched this on a 17" PC monitor, noticed no problems at all. Not even signs of compression or pixelation.
Audio:
3 audio tracks are present: Japanese Dolby Digital Stereo 2.0 Japanese Dolby Digital 5.1 Japanese Digital Theatre System (DTS) 5.1 With my limited audio setup, I used the first audio track, but I assume the others are perfect as well. (Let me know?)
Subtitle:
English, Japanese and Chinese subtitles. Eng. (and Jap.?) subtitles seem like perfect R2 rips. I had the English subtitles on, and they don't look like HK orginals, since they're so perfect. In the ending credits the subtitles also say "English translation by .... company", so they're definitely R2 rips, I think I can safely say that.

Seems like we have a winner here :-) Ghiblies 2 (25 mins) is included on this one disc set, as mentioned by others, and it's worth the watch. Hilarious. Neko no Ongaeshi itself is a rather short (75 mins) but entertaining Ghibli movie. Not their best movie, but that doesn't matter. It entertained me, I loved the story and its characters, and the great animation (which is different compared to what we're used to coming from Ghibli). Do I still have to add you won't regret buying this ? :-)

Very clear image! No bumps or blocking or any problems at all. The only reason I give this a 4.5 is because when I ran it on my DVD-ROM, it would skip very slightly so often. Annoying, but the story more than makes up for it.
Audio:
Great audio, with only a few portions where it is simply too soft to hear (thank goodness for subtitles). Clear, crisp, and no skipping at all, not even on the DVD-ROM.
Subtitle:
Subtitles were very good, easy to understand, and flowed smoothly with the speech. They were a touch larger than I am used to with other subs, but they did not interfer with the movie in any way. As far as translation, they were sufficient to get across the point of the actual dialogue, if not an exact translation. They tried to make sure that those reading would get the gist of what was going on.

This is a WONDERFUL story! Of course, it is by Studio Ghibli, so it is no wonder. I saw this originally at a convention, and so I knew what to expect. Check out the synopsis if you want to know what it is about. My -only- real beef with this DVD is that all of the options are in Japanese. I had to stumble blindly through the menus to find the English subtitles. Finally, the other little collection of short films (Ghiblies 2) was very cute, though often very strange and unusual.
