Reviews for Hikaru No Go Part 4
Video:
Audio:
Subtitles:

Overall:

Video:

Decent TV rip, although it's different from the previous set. The TV source is better, no shadows or phantom pictures. But it's recorded on analogue tape instead of DVD-RAM. So you get some slight color blur, some few tape glitches and those typical distorted lines on the bottom of the screen (probably only visible if you watch it on the computer). But you also get less pixelation, since there was no on-the-fly encoding.

Audio:

Noticed no problems, although it's probably worse than DVD-ripped sound.

Subtitle:

At first I thought the subs were as good or even better than in the previous set. They looked nice with longer sentences and correct punctuation. But the subs are very inconsistent in quality. One line you think that the subs are nearly perfect, but then the next line destroys everthing with Chinese names and weird word choices. Names for the main characters (Hikaru, Touya, Sai etc.) are correct, but a lot of the rest is either Chinese or totally off. And there are some of the usual grammar errors (genders mixed up, incorrect tenses etc.) Still, they are understandable without a lot (but some) thinking.

Comment:

This is an MI rip (logo shows up from time to time). I thought it was not as good as the previous set (the AV rip) in terms of sub quality, but still I can recommend this fantastic anime to everyone. Equipment used: Sony DVD-NS300 PAL codefree player; cheap Grundig 27" PAL stereo TV
