Reviews for Lupin III - Secret of the Twilight Gemini

Overall:

Video:

Great video quality with this release. Clean colours, detail in the shadows, no pixelation worth mentioning, and Fujiko topless. OK... so that last bit isn't really about the video quality but it is nice getting to see this with a good clean copy.

Audio:

Great stereo sound. No fancy Dolby 5.1 for anybody though... just great sound levels without any hiss, buzz or pops.

Subtitle:

I hate to mark this release down for this. In the first 10 minutes of the movie, there are some timing issues where the subs are about one line behind what's being said. That really annoyed me. The Engrish gets a bit thick at times as well. Lots of instances of he/she being confused and other odd grammatical workings. Fortunately, this being Lupin, the movie isn't too complicated so the poor subtitles don't hinder the enjoyment of the movie too much.

Comment:

This is one of the better Lupin movies. It hits that perfect balance of fun and action without getting too silly (as is known to happen in Lupin movies). Did I mention that you get to see Fujiko topless? All of the characters seem to behave intelligently and in character for what we've come to expect. Top it all off with nice artwork and animation and you end up with a great movie.
