Reviews for Jubei-chan the Ninja Girl ~ Perfect Collection
Video:

Overall:

Video:

An almost perfect R1 rip, it has no pixelation that I could see on my tv.

Audio:

The English dub is somewhat medicore acting but has no technical problems with it. Japanese dub is much better, and better acting.

Subtitle:

Some errors on the intro subs (not filled out) some occasional missing lines. Acceptable but I know they had to be better on the official dvds.

Comment:

This series starts out kind of corney, but if you can make it through the first 5 episodes or so it will start to improve and grow on you a little. There isnt really anything exceptional about this anime, it tries to be funny alot, and deformed characters are common. Worth a buy I guess if you dont have anything else to buy. I would rate the anime itself 3.5/5

Crystal. This my first MAC set and I'm really impressed with the video quality. There's none of the messy pixellation that you always see in FX releases... not even during high-action scenes! The only compression that I could see (using HDTV) was on the still image used for the menu.

Audio:

English 5.1 and Japanese 2.0. Having a 5.1 Japanese track would be nice, but that's probably asking for too much.

Subtitle:

Zero missing lines! All the subs were ripped from the R1 (which I have seen before). The only annoyance is that subtitles for on-screen words are outlined and not filled in. [See screenshot] But it's not that much harder to read. At least there IS a different between primary and secondary subs... unlike FX releases, where you have to guess which subtitle is actually spoken (as all they both look exactly the same).

Comment:

Jubei-Chan is one of the most entertaining series that I've seen. Its genre is comparable to the first half of Trigun. Comedy, action, touching moments, romance (kind of)... it's all here. It's only 13 episodes so definitely check it out! And watch out for its sequel, Jubei-Chan 2.

Some really good video in this set. Just about flawless really.

Audio:

Clean and good. Make sure you watch this series in japanese only tho.

Subtitle:

Well done subs. No missing lines from what I saw. Well translated and ripped. However, there are some anoyances. First, some subs, usually title captions, captions for Boss's shirt, and secondary voice titles are only outlined. Not really a problem, but can make things a bit hard to read. My other complaint, is they used a sickly green color to outline the subs for most of the eps. Again, nothing really bad, but makes things a little harder to read I think.

Comment:

A rather mediocre series. Kind of hard to compare it to anything else I have seen. It has some good humor, painfully quick fights, some horrable character drawings (on purpose tho), and a style that is just a little odd to see. Bit hard to recommend this series, nor not. If you have not allready seen this series, and dont know what to expect, then I recommend that you make sure that there is nothing else you want to buy more first.

Nice video, really good

Audio:

Audio was top notch, I had to watch the dub though

Subtitle:

Unwatchable in my opinion unless you understand japanese, it gradually kicked in later on. I had the subtitles on while watching the english dub i think thats the only way

Comment:

I enjoyed the series, but was disappointed by the subtitles. I had heard that the newer sets had corrected the problem.

Very clear no macroblacking that I can see of. Nice R1 rip.

Audio:

Nothing to complain about really, the Japanese sounded good. I don't really like the dub but it is in 5.1 which is a nice feature.

Subtitle:

Great news it looks like MAC fixed this set so it no longer has missing subs! The only issue is when there is a secondary person talking or text is being translated the subs are black outlined with clear inside. Its not really a problem just kind of annyoning.

Comment:

Overall this is definitaly a safe buy now for fans of English and Japanese language. Its also a great show from the guy who brought us Sexy Commando, Kodocha, Fruits Basket and Now then Here and There.

R1 ripped it was beautiful, I have the original set by bandai and it is identical.

Audio:

Once again perfect, could find nothing wrong with the audio.

Subtitle:

Wow the first eight episodes had an average of 10 to 15 missing lines an episode, the next five missed about 2 to 3 lines an episode. This made the series less enjoyable because the English dub is not bad, its horrible compare to the japanese dialogue.

Comment:

I thought I could buy this set and make some money on ebay by selling my originals, but because of the subs looks like I ended up with two sets. The story is really decent at best, but its the awkwardness of the show that makes it. Several histerical moments and even a little drama ALA Tenchi style. So if you can stomach bad dubs go get this set!!

R1 ripped. Looks great. Even during action scenes, no pixelation that I could see.

Audio:

2 Tracks--Japanese Dolby Digital 2 Channel and English D.D. 5.1. I listened to both and they both sounded good.

Subtitle:

R1 ripped. Spelling and grammar are excellent. The earlier episodes are missing enough subs to by irritating (in my opinion). It's possible that some people won't be so bothered by it. Not nearly as bad as some other MAC sets I've seen. The good news is that eps 5-13 are much better, with only a couple dropped lines here and there.

Comment:

No extras included, in fact, this is pretty much a no-frills release. Menus and packaging are simple, but get the job done nicely. My only real gripe is with the lack of chapter breaks, but I'm sure I'll get over it. Overall, this is a good set for the money. I was pleasantly surprised by Jubei-chan, which, unlike many short series, gets better and better with each episode and has a very nice conclusion. Never too serious for too long, but the humor is never grating or stupid. There are some nice dramatic scenes in here, too. And EVERYTHING with Jubei's father is just pure gold! Light-hearted, and ultimately, very sweet. Note for those who keep track of such things: Series direction was done by Akitaroh Daichi (Fruits Basket, Animation Runner Kuromi-chan, Now and Then, Here and There, Kodomo no Omocha, etc.).

Unmistakenly a R1 ripped.

Audio:

disk2's sound is softer than disk1 at a same volume. The English dub sounds fine.

Subtitle:

some lines are missing so I've only watched in English dub.

Comment:

First time after watching the few begining episodes, I immediately determined that this show is bizarre and senseless. Dialog are so corny and characters are weird. I even had skipped watching some episodes in between. After watching ep13, I still found it was a worthless title. Then having just watched the show properly from the beginning til the end, I've become fond of the odd characters. Despite some characters are still irritating, "Jubei chan" has become more than just tolerable but "lovely" to watch. If you already like "Jubei chan", this set is a must buy.
