No problems w/ video

Audio:

No problems w/ japanese track. The english is louder than the japanese. It's also weird how in some shots, the person would be saying something in Japanese but their mouths weren't moving. It only happened 2-3 times w/ quick words though.

Subtitle:

Watched w/ the english subtitles. No grammar or spelling mistakes but lots of lines were dropped! It was really annoying. Even though you can figure out what they probably said judging from lines said before and after, it was done enough times to make me angry. The most lines dropped were in the 1st disk. But there were still lines being dropped in the 2nd and 3rd

Comment:

Very good series w/ a really great plot. I couldn't stop watching it - so addicting. This is a dark/fantasy/love anime. Must buy! No mid-chapter breaks in between an episodes.

Video is alright, no problems

Audio:

Audio is good, no errors. I watched the with the jap track on, I don't think the english dub was all that good. I checked it out often for the missed subtitles.

Subtitle:

Not horrible, but not perfect. The first disc did have most of the problems with at least 5-7 lines dropped an episode, after the first disc the other 2 were pretty good with a line or two dropped. All in all it didnt bother me that much just a little annoyance.

Comment:

Series was good and it became addicting, there are some parts that i wasn't to fond of but thats how things are. Menu was full japanese, but easy to navigate if you are familiar with these dvd's.

This is an excellent R1 rip from MAC. I couldn't find any pixellation at all, even in some of the more intense action scenes, and the video looked wonderful. There was one point on the first disc when the video paused for just a second, but it was quickly corrected.

Audio:

I watched the show in Japanese but switched to the English dub periodically for some of the missing subtitles. Both audio tracks sounded fine on my stereo TV with no hisses or scratching sounds.

Subtitle:

Judging from the word choice and sentence structure, these subs appear to be from the R1 release. They are white and easy to see on the screen, though the font changes from a small, thin font in the beginning of the series to a larger font in the middle of the series, then back to the smaller font. Though the subs are from the R1 release, there are a number of spelling errors and typos throughout the series. Most of these errors are relatively minor, though, and the meaning of the sentences can be clearly understood. Sadly, however, there are a number of missing lines (from 0 to 5 lines with 3 being the average) on every episode throughout the series, especially on the first disc. It was not as bad as I thought, as most of the missing lines were spread out through the episode (there was not a situation where a whole minute of conversation was missing), and most of the missing lines were not at any of the critical plot points in the episodes and seemed pretty inconsequential when I went back to the dub to see what was said.

Comment:

This release would not win any awards for presentation, as the gatefold case it comes in is smaller than most of the FX cases, and the images bleed through it, making it look a little cheap. The disc menus are not ripped from the R1, and instead of nice, moving images, all you get is a strange, blurred picture of characters from the series for each of the menus. The text on the menu is also all in Japanese but is not hard to navigate after a little trial and error. There are no extras from the R1 present. Having said all that, unless you really want nice packaging, extras, and do not want to deal with a couple of missing subs, this is a great set to buy. The series itself is wonderful and is sure to appeal to anyone into shoujo anime or anyone who enjoyed Fushigi Yuugi.

Very good! No pixelation of any kind. There is only a few times (around 3 times) the picture seems artifacted, but it's only for about a second. Almost perfect.

Audio:

Perfect. I hear no problems of any kind.

Subtitle:

As of now i have only watched it dubbed. So i remain neutral on this one.

Comment:

Very good series. Good story, character development and layout. I have never seen a story as interesting and deep as this. It has all the aspects of a great anime: drama, romance, and violence. I will admit that in the begining i was very reluctant in watching this series because it looked as if it was another one of these girlie type animes, but it's not. I don't want to give away too much, so i'll leave it at that. But if your looking for a great anime with a solid story, great characters development or you're thinking of trying something new, give this a try. I can not recommend this enough!

The video is very clear and crisp! Absolutely no problems.

Audio:

Definitely no problems here! A Japanese track and an English track is provided.

Subtitle:

Wow, there are 3 sets of subtitles! English, Chinese (traditional), and Italian! Some lines are missing for all 3 sets though. At first, I thought there were few. But there are more than I expected. It would be handy if you knew some basic Japanese. But, you can always go back and listen to the (badly done) English dub track to fill in all the missing subs. Also, on the last disc, the subtitles are behind by at least 1 second.

Comment:

This is a great series! The packaging is the familiar fold-out case with a plastic case to hold the entire package together. But, the images on the case is of very low quality. It is too dark and the oranges, browns, and reds become fuzzy, plus they bleed. The summary on the back is in black text and the image is kind of dark so they are hard to read. Plus, they are not centered properly. Only the front of the box looks good. The second DVD label is very low-quality. The face color is pale and greenish. Other than that, this set is pretty good I guess. If you have a chance to get the official set at a lower price, get that instead. But besides, this set is pretty worth it for the cheap price! No extras on this set. And no animated menus.

Perfect, very clear no pixelation

Audio:

both japanese and english audio , though I prefer japanese because I usually don't like dubbed versions

Subtitle:

no grammar errors what so ever, maybe a few lines missing in the whole set but if you know your basic japanese you'll be fine.

Comment:

the only weird thing I noticed are that if you listen to the dub version with subs on you see a BIG difference as in the dub version the word damn and bitch came a few times up, I'd say therE's more violent words in the dubbed version than the subbed one lol. But still the Subbed verison is better on my opinion. They are the opening and ending themes note that the menu is indeed in japanese but quite simple to understand first line is play all second line is language selection third line is the chapters I do admit Aya's voice can get irritating after a while especially when she screams, so the jap version is always the best!!

Excellent video quality. Infrequent bleeding does occur, but it's livable.

Audio:

Audio was great. Japanese and Elnglish work fine, and I didn't notice any problems with Audio/Video synch.

Subtitle:

The subtitles were good, but there were lines in every episode that are missing, and usually when they're speaking for a while... it does happen at the climax of a few episodes. You can eventually pick up what they're saying in the subsequent episodes. Also, there's a little bit of random word-changing. The first half of the series, they use "celestial maiden," and then sudden;y the Japanese word "tennyo" is thrown in a few times, then back to the original. This happens with some other words, too.

Comment:

A great series. If you liked Fushigi Yuugi, this will most likely be something you will enjoy. For 24 episodes, this series has everything you could possibly want. My only complaint is that the DVD menus are pretty boring and the pictures are horrible. I doubt the menu is taken from the R1 version because they're in Japanese.

Great video quality. No problems, however the colours do seem to be somewhat washed out. I've heard that the video quality from the R1's isn't perfect, so this set is probably equal or very similar to the R1's.

Audio:

The audio is very clear without any problems. However, the English audio is noticeable louder than the Japanese audio. I've only watched one episode dubbed in English and overall, I think the English is terrible. But since some subtitles are missing, you may find yourself switching to the English dub periodically.

Subtitle:

Overall, the subtitles were very good. There aren't any spelling or grammar errors, however, some lines of subtitles are missing. This happens throughout the series, but some episodes do have all the subtitles intact. One final note, very early in the series, the font size of the subtitles noticeably get larger...this isn't a bad thing but it's a little odd. Chinese and Italian subtitles are also selectable.

Comment:

Overall, this is a very good set to own! Great audio and video quality, and very good subtitles (even though some are missing). And one more thing that should be noted is that the menus are in Japanese.

it looks beautiful. almost as good as the r1 release. the only thing that i didn't like was that the menu was in japanese, but it isn't hard throught them at all. i though the r1 menu's where really good though. they didn't have to change them. i didn't see any pixelation or ghosting like in the fx. i didn't give it a five because of the ugly menu.

Audio:

really good. there where moments that the english was a little low, but it wasn't that bad. put it a little higher than usual and you're good to go

Subtitle:

r1 quality. gooooooood!:-)

Comment:

AMAZING!, there's a lot of people who won't agree with me, but i think this series is way better than fushigi yuugi. wayyyyyyyyyyy better. jijjijiijijij! edit: i forgot to mention that i don't think this is a fx rip because it doesn't have the extras and it has italian subs which i'm pretty sure the fx don't have.( i got to check it to make sure)
