Reviews for Martian Sucessor Nadesico TV Perfect Collection

Perfect R1 rip. Noticed no problems, even on the last disc that had 10 episodes.

Audio:

No problems on my simple stereo TV. I only listened to the Japanese audio.

Subtitle:

Perfect R1 rip. Can't remember any missing lines. The only thing was, that sometimes the white font was hard to read against a light background. The sub font on the last disc was different (smaller, but bolder black outlines).

Comment:

26 episodes (8+8+10) on 3 DVD9. All openings, endings, previews intact. At first I was slightly disappointed by the series (given it's big name). But halfway through the story got better (with the identity of the Jovians revealed and more information given about the characters' past). So all in all I enjoyed it, but still think that the series is overrated. Nevertheless, since the set really deserves the "perfect" badge, you probably won't regret buying it.

Perfect - atleast as good as my TV would allow it to be displayed. No pixelation detected even in action scenes. Especially good considering the final disc has 10 eps on it.

Audio:

Sounded fine also, both english and Japanese tracks clear and crisp. From memory i think one was slightly lower volume than the other but only noticable when flicking between audio tracks.

Subtitle:

Subtitles are very good, however there was the odd missed line and misstiming/quickly displayed line(very rare though). The English audio dub is quite different in dialogue to the subtitles, and i think thats because at times the traslation of the sub's was made as a literal transaltion of what they were saying in Japanese. Still, they were fine and definetley worthy of the "perfect" tag.

Comment:

Character profiles on disc's 1 and 2, eps in 8,8,10 format on 3 discs. some eps you cant go straight to from the main menu, you have to go to an ep or so before and then skip forward to the one you want. Great series, doesnt particularly exell in any one department, but it blends comedy, sci fi, action, love, drama all into one finely presented show. The ending was a bit rushed but it wasnt annoying. The Gekigangar influence in the show was a novel and refreshing idea. Overall i enjoyed it a lot. Recomended

Perfect no pixelation at all

Audio:

both language tracks are superb

Subtitle:

perfect subtitles, didn't find any lines missing, the only downside I found was very rarely the subs are in white with thin black layer around the letters so when you ending up on a white cinematics you had a bit of trouble to read them but still is noticable.

Comment:

I bought this set because people told me it was good, there's some comedy and a great story behind it but honestly I may have expected much more out of this series, but take note I'm into lots of action and all so normal it didn't get to me much, although my friends all like this series. Basically if you know the series and been planning on getting it then I highly recommend this set because it's PERFECT

This is one of the best anime series I've ever seen. It has great character development and the story has awsome plot twists. It's definitely a classic.

R1 rip, beautiful color and no detectable signs of compression [unless your being anal and scrutinizing every frame], excellent quality.

Audio:

Beyond Satisfactory, once again. both dubs are there. I'd also like to comment how the english dub is actually really good, and it adds to the comedy, seeing how all the voices are done very well for the silly characters.

Subtitle:

perfect yet again, no missed lines, perfect timing....yada yada yada. White subtitles with faint black borders can make them hard to read over a white background, no problems thou.

Comment:

Just about perfect. The second dvd has an inherit menu bug, the second half of the episodes 13-16, cannot be accessed by the root main menu. the buttons dont work. all you have to do i just to go scene sellection and choose the episode manually. no big deal. another odd thing, the episodes are split in half and put on 2 separate tracks. so example, first disc, eps 1-4 are on track 1, 5-8 are on track 2. This is a rather odd, and kinda fustrating because when u want to get to ep 5 after ep 4, u have to go back to the menu instead of just hitting the skip ahead chapter button on your remote. At least it doesnt boot you back to the main menu after every episode like the cowboy bebop rips.

R1 ripped, no problems...everything is fine

Audio:

No problems also ...Japanese and English Audio are present

Subtitle:

and suprisingly for MAC ...no missing Subs ! that's right everything is subbed...r1 ripped of course

Comment:

Comes in a coloured gatefold, and not the ugly generic of old. The only extras it contains are some characters profiles in the first 2 DVDs. basically it's a r1 rip without any problems ...

Taken from the R1's. Disc 1 is gorgeous. There is almost no macroblocking or video quirks at all. It's almost like these episodes didn't get recompressed. Disc 2 and 3 are about your average FX released quality. Which still really isn't a bad thing.

Audio:

Both Japanese and English audio are there. They sound fine.

Subtitle:

Quite possibly the best HK DVD in terms of subtitles. There are no lines missed. None at all. Nothing was mispelled. The timing was R1 perfect. I would like to state that I only watched 3 of the 25 next episode previews, so maybe something is missed in one of those, but I doubt it. Also note that on disc 3, the sub font changes to a smaller font.

Comment:

A funny show. Well worth the $25 it'll cost you to buy it.
