Overall:
Video:
R2 rip. Some noticeable pixelation. The picture also could have been a bit sharper for my taste. As the previous reviewer mentioned, the quality takes a slight drop on the 2nd disc.
Audio:
Nothing to complain about on my simple stereo TV.
Subtitle:
Decent HK originals. Some names are right (Kazuto, Rika), some are wrong (Walküre = Flower Akirei, Hydra = Edla), but no Chinese names. Of course all the typical grammar errors are there (singular/plural, I/you etc. mixed up), there are some typos and wrong words (like weird = wired) and some few missing lines. Still, everything remains perfectly understandable. This is an AV rip, so if you know some of AV's decent original subs, you know what to expect.
Comment:
Nice, senseless fun. Made right out of the anime construction box. Take a female alien princess that crashes in a young man's house. Make this house a bathhouse, so we can get the chance to see all those hot aliens naked. Add some magical girl transformation (Walküre's transformation is so ridiculous, with her breasts growing and bouncing). Add an army of catgirls. Add young man's childhood girlfriend. Add a doglike sidekick. Add another dose of alien princesses (just to be sure). And finished is your anime. Not the most original thing, but I enjoyed it when I took some breaks during other non-funny animes. Equipment used: Sony DVD-NS300 PAL codefree player; cheap Grundig 27" PAL stereo TV

Video:
Nice colors and crisp detail overall, though on Disc 2 the clarity and vividness look like they take a slight dip.
Audio:
Absolutely no problems with the audio. Clean and in-sync with the video.
Subtitle:
Decent HK original English subtitles. The translation is a bit simple, the grammar can be hit or miss, and they try really hard to get the proper names right (the spelling is either somewhat close or reasonably close), with the exception of the title character, whose name is changed from Valkyrie to Flower Akirie. It gets two characters' name definitely right-the simple names of Rika and Akina-but the more complicated the spelling and pronunciation of a name, the more off the name is in the subs. There are also a handful of unsubbed lines. Fortunately, the dialogue is usually not too sophisticated or technical or complex, so most of the time it's easy to follow each episode. I think the only harm the original subs do is not in you understanding the story but more in you missing (or deflating) a clever joke or two.
Comment:
This is a futuristic romantic comedy series that has a lot of fan-service--lots of panty shots and chest shots and bare breasts for no real reason at all. This series is about a seventeen year old high school boy (his name is "Katsuto" or "Kazuto" according to the subs), living with his thirteen year old sister Rika, who runs his grandfather's neighborhood bath house. But one crazy day, the beautiful young princess Valkyrie's space ship crashes into the bath house while he is operating it. To revive him and make up for the trouble, she gives half her soul to Kazuto--but in doing so, she is transformed both physically and mentally into a small child. She ends up living with Kazuto and Rika, but her presence and new childish state of mind invites all kinds of wacky trouble. She can temporarily transform into her adult self, but only when she kisses Kazuto and they share the same feelings for each other. UFO Princess Valkyrie is a pretty cute, extremely silly and constantly slapstick-y type series that does have a few funny and clever moments. But overall it's lightweight, fluffy entertainment.
