Reviews for Dragonball Z Part 3

Somewhat better than the first set which I reviewed previously (1-53). This set picks up at episode 54. While it is overall a decent improvement from the first set its still overall pretty medicore. I don't understand really what MAC has against using DVD9 but it really hurts there sets. This set has a decent deal of pixelation, but at least its not a completely rancid mess like the last set.

Audio:

Japanese audio is present, the English dub switches from Ocean Group to funimation.

Subtitle:

They start out MI rips, but switch over to funimation official a few volumes in. Why? Well because funimation didnt start releasing there discs dual audio until half way through the frieza saga.

Comment:

Its really a shame someone better than MAC didn't release the DBZ series. This is watchable, although overall pretty medicore.

Ok, I just wanted to post a comment to the previous reviewer. He says the audio and the video don't match up. I think he may have used the wrong subtitles, the ones that are meant for the dub. Since the dub has added dialogue, it also has added subs. So when you watch it with Japanese audio and dubtitles, it won't match up.

the video is pretty average for this set it should be better than what it really is especially since its a dvd rip of the R-1 you can tell by the bleeding of colors..

Audio:

the audio is ok if you like the dub you will enjoy this the japanese was ok too,,

Subtitle:

here's my only problem with these dbz mac dvd's the subs are from the R-1 rip the audio sometimes doesnt match up with the video and another problem is that when there's no SOUND whats so ever there will be a sub on the screen like when goku's in the rejuvenate thingie.

Comment:

i noiticed a BIG PROBLEM on this dvd you can only select 3 episodes from the main menu..to get to all the other episoed you will to use chapter select on your player since there is no menu on the dvd it self to select the other episodes.. if you can get past that annoying problem get this set if your a fan of the dub. if this review does not get thru like the 2 others theres a cover up on these mac sets. the reason is because the problem with getting to the other episodes..

Video quality is pretty good, considering this was ripped from an R1 source, most of the time it's pretty clear, unless there's alot of action on the screen, then you'll see some pixilation, but then again this was drawn like 10 years ago, so your not gonna find clarity like , fansubbed divx

Audio:

audio sounds fine, not a 5.1 source, just 2 channel stereo, but the good part is you get the japanese dub, along with the american dub

Subtitle:

it's great, there are 2 sets of english subtitles on the dvd's, the 1st is the american translation, you'll be reading what the dub on the american voice would say, the 2nd one is a direct translation of the japanese dub, only complaint is lots of missing lines on the 2nd set of subs,

Comment:

great series overall, hope to collect all of them soon, can't wait for re-release of part 1 and 2
