The video is flawless. Simply gorgeous to watch.
Audio:
The audio is also very strong. At least on my lame TV.
Subtitle:
Really good overall, a couple phrases that just don't feel right, but nothing too bad.
Comment:
This is a great episode that really sets the stage for a great series. The Veritech transformation scene alone makes this disc worth owning for any Macross/Robotech fan out there.

The video is gorgeous. It looked perfect.
Audio:
Great audio. No complaints here.
Subtitle:
The subs were clear. I didn't catch any spelling errors.
Comment:
I've been a big fan of Macross II, Macross Plus, and Macross 7 for a long time. Macross Zero (from what I've seen so far of Vol.1) is great series. I can tell I'm going to like it... I just wish Vol.2 would come out already.

The video was great, no problems here.
Audio:
Audio sounded great, but again, I am no audiophile so I might not know what to look for ;-)
Subtitle:
The subtitles were very good except for one or two skipped lines and a few awkward sentances. The subtitles weren't perfect but they were totally understandable and didn't detract from the DVD at all.
Comment:
This series looks like it is going to be great, a return to the excellent level of quality achieved with Macross Plus. The mech scenes were all done in CG which looked pretty good (i was worried) and the storyline has got me hooked (I'm a macross addict, though, so I'm a LITTLE biased). The DVD was near perfect, even has extras in the form of ads for a bunch of contemporary japanese dvds etc. Good stuff.

Excellent video, especially on the mech scenes.
Audio:
Kick ass!!
Subtitle:
While I didn't notice any grammar mistakes, there are a lot of other issues. Some lines don't seem to be translated well, if at all, and names are a little funky with some characters (Roy being Raizu), and some lines just didn't fit with words you heard. The biggest gripe I have though is that most of the subs didn't come up until a second or 2 after the dialog has started, in some cases, was over with and someone else started to say something.
Comment:
MZero was excellent. I highly recommend this, even with the sub problems. Hell, you don't really even need the subs since most of the important things they say you here in the dialog itself. :-)

Video:
Drop dead gorgeous. That's the only way to describe the video transfer on this release. Everything is damn near flawless. The visuals are extremely sharp, but not too much that it's a strain on the eyes. There's no color bleeding, precious few aliasing problems and even during the majestic mecha combat sequences (which are absolutely outta this world BTW), the video still holds up admirably with no break up and very little amounts of macroblocking. A truly excellent video transfer. Not suprising considering it's an R2 DVD rip, but jaw-dropping nontheless.
Audio:
Again the fact that this is ripped from an R2 DVD also works in it's favour as we graced with the Japanese track in full Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. Everything sounds flawless and I can see no problems with the audio set up on this disc whatsoever. Exemplary.
Subtitle:
If you're expecting this to be the department where Macross Zero falls flat on it's face, you couldn't be more wrong. The subs while certainly not great, are for the most part perfectly understandable. This is further compunded by the fact that there are no 'engrish' errors whatsoever since all the words in the subtitle track are spelled correctly. Combine this with mostly spot on subtitle timings and you have a fairly competent subtitle track. There are however, a few flaws with the subtitiles that may put some off this release, so for those interested here they are: 1) One of the characters (Shin) mentions the names of two other characters (Mao & Sara) before he even meets them. 2) Frequently, Edgar (Shin's technican/co-pilot) is referred to as 'Nutok'. This is just plain silly because the Seiyuu even says Edgar's name as just 'Edgar'. 3) A few of the more technical words and subtle sentences are either mistranslated or not translated at all. So stuff like Overtechnology and thermonuclear engine fusion just don't come out right or don't come out at all. 4) Some minor timing issues and one or two non-translated lines during one of Shin's conversations with Mao. So there you have it, while this is not a flawless set of subtitles, it's still good enough to make viewing of Macross Zero both enjoyable and understandable. Big props to MI for this one, you did good guys.
Comment:
Whilst you might only be getting 30 mins of DVD movie for your buck, Macross Zero is shaping up to be one of the finest showcases of what Macross is all about namely love, music and great mecha. If you decide not to buy it's your loss, but I can tell you one thing, this DVD will have MANY repeat viewings in my DVD player. Oh one other thing, after the main feature has finished keep watching as there are trailers for other anime series' too such as Witch Hunter Robin, Patlabor WXIII, .Hack//Sign and many more.
