Visuals are very old school but still good for it's time buy you wont be buying this title for its visuals so dont worry about it. The producers still did a good job with all the action sences and you'll find out there top notch.

Audio:

The opening and ending themes for this series are some of the best and the rest of the series audio is just as good.

Subtitle:

The subtitles are pritty good but you wont have to read this anime the english dubbing is well done and acted so you won't become bord from all the reading

Comment:

Overall this is one of my favorites all time, top five for me. Actions great, music's great, dramas great, and you may even like the little comedy it has as well. This anime gets a 5/5 from me overall there should be no hesitation to buy this.

The video is great, there is some pixilation here in there but nothing to bad, you can only notice it on dark scenes.

Audio:

The audio is great in both english and japanese, i noticed some people saying theres a sync problem that is off by half a secound or so however i did not notice this on my set as everything seems great and i think both dubs are awesome i love wathing this series in either english or japanese as i think there both great.

Subtitle:

I saw alot of episodes with the subs on and they were perfect, without a doubt R1 rip very great, nice perfect size letters in yellow.

Comment:

Rurouni Kenshin is one of my all time favorite animes i love it, its awesome truly a great series with alot of comedy/drama/action very enjoyable i recommend this series to anyone who is looking for a great samurai anime or just a great anime in general truly one of my favorites and im pretty sure if you pick it up you will think the same. Good quality, no problems here!

I got pissed by this set a lot!!!. My sets japanese audio was WAY off as the characters stopped moving their mouths and the talking just kept on, only happened in the jap audio. It happened in almost EVERY episode. I trully despise this series in english and seeying this happened on my set really got me frustraded. I think this only happened to me since everyone else gave the audio a good rating.

Subtitle:

Goods subs since its a R1 rip.

Comment:

This is one of my top 5 favorite animes and having the bad luck of having problems with this sets audio pisses me off!! I have the 2nd box set from Fx and its perfect except for 1 episode were it has the same problems. Overall very good set except for my bad luck!

Great video. Crisp.

Audio:

Great audio. It is 2.0 Pro Logic and like another guy said, it is alittle soft (not much), just turn up the volume.

Subtitle:

Nice yellow subs, go alittle fast every now and then but gives you at least enough time to read it.

Comment:

Very nice box. Tons of extras. Best hk set i have bought yet. Ranks among cowboy bebop and outlaw star quality but better as far as setup goes.

Standard FX video. Minor pixilation. Works for me.

Audio:

Eh, not too bad, but not great. Sounded fine in my headphones, fine on my stereo, fine on my computer, but not so good on my TV. It was muffled and I had to turn the volume up a lot more than compared to any of my other DVD's. Who knows? It's an old TV anyway. I primarily watched this show in English, so I only spot-check the Japanese audio. Sounds fine. People say there's an audio synch problem on some episodes, but I wouldn't know. The English track is fine, with really only noticeable audio synch issues in episode 42 (or was it 43?).

Subtitle:

Again, I primarily watched the show in English, so I only spot checked these. Ripped from the R1's, so you know they're good.

Comment:

Well worth the money if I do say so myself. I like were the show is going. If the rest of the series is as good as the first half, then I'll be extremely pleased. So far, 5/5.

The video is on par with the FX release of Outlaw Star. No pixelization during fast moving scenes, and very good looking overall. There is a small amount of compression in the picture, but it's not that bad and dsoen't take away from watching the show.

Audio:

Sounded great on my stereo TV. The only problems I had were during episodes 8 (on disc 2) and 25 (on disc 4) on the Japanese audio track. It was out of sync by maybe a half second. This is only noticable during parts where the characters are talking for a while, but not during the rest of it. A small flaw, but not one that takes away from the overall Kenshin experience.

Subtitle:

Once in a blue moon one little line will go too fast, but as far as I'm concerned these are perfect. No mispellings or run together subs, all in a nice yellow lemon flavored font.

Comment:

It took me awhile to finally get through this set. :) This is one of FX's best in my opinion, and is a incredible deal when you comapre the cost of this set to the R1's. While not without a couple tiny flaws, this is the best it's going to get for a HK release. Highly recommended!

I have no plans to watch this set but did give several disks a quick check. The video is much better than the MI version. Watching it on a big TV it was not 100% perfect but i saw little to complain about.

Audio:

Trying very hard i did notice the english audio was sometimes slightly out of sync by 1/2 second at most. However, my eyes were glued to the mouth movements in order for me to notice this. ^_^;;

Subtitle:

Not sure as i did not test them enough. I think they are real subtitles as opposed to dubtitles.

Here is a comprensive list of the extras: Extras: Disk 1: Art Gallery - Character Profiles - Textless Opening - Original Japanese Credits - Textless Closing Song - Outakes Disk 2: Art / Fan Gallery - Outakes Disk 3: Creditless Opening Song - Outakes - Art Gallery Disk 4: Creditless Opening - Outakes - Original Epilogue Disk 5: Outakes - Creditless Closing Disk 6: Outakes - Creditless Opening - Creditless Closing The last outake on disk 2 was quite funny - the rest are humourous. Packaging: Very nicely done. The printed colour parts are a little bit like transfer tattoos in that you can feel them but of course they are high quality. The images on each disk corresponds to the art on the holder.

The video is very good for 8 episodes a disk. There is some pixillation most is hardly noticable on a tv and because it goes by so fast. Sometimes it looks like an R1 and other times it looks a little less than dvd but overall excellent video. There are some glitches in the video but it only happens rarely and for only a second or less.

Audio:

Great sound on my modest setup. I really love the music and both the Japanese and English track seem to be perfect. Excellent!

Subtitle:

These are from the R1 so they are perfect except for a few miss timing. Sometimes they go by too fast but overall excellent timing and subtitles.

Comment:

The only major flaw this set has is the Japanese audio track gets ahead of the video about a half a second in some of the episodes. Most of the time you can't even tell cause the lips still seem to be in synch with the voices but when a fight scene occurs you can hear sword clings before it happens. Kinda annoying... but still watchable. Only a few episodes is this really apparent. The set would indeed be a perfect R1 rip if not for the video synch problem . Still a great set even among all the flaws. Packaging is also awesome. Great artwork! If you can stand a minor audio synch problem that isn't very noticable, this is the set to get.

Video:

Colors are more vibrant and much richer than the MI versions (and of course, the AV and AS/Mac that ripped it). Details are also clearer and sharper. There is slight pixellation during the more flashy/extravagant fight scenes, however, but it's not as blatant as the Cowboy Bebop set, more along the lines of AV's recent One Piece releases. There are occasional "glitches" in the video as well, like I've seen one frame as being all yellow and another one having a gray horizontal bar near the top.

Audio:

There are no actual problems with the actual Japanese or English audio tracks, but there are at least 2-3 episodes on this set where the audio (the Japanese track at least) is definitely ahead or behind of the video and subs by around half a second. I'm suspicious about a couple of others. I'd also like to say that I don't like the dubbing at all.

Subtitle:

Ripped from the Region 1's, thus it lacks the significant amount of unsubbed lines, timing problems, and heinous (and sometimes hilarious) typos found in the MI release. Ocassionally a word is missing, but that's probably due to the source. Sometimes a subtitle line is behind its corresponding line of dialogue by a word or two and disappears rather quickly because there's more dialogue following it.

Comment:

Not a "perfect" rip of the region 1 discs, but definitely superior in overall video and subtitle quality over the MI version. I don't mind the subtle amount of pixellation or the infrequent "blips" in the video, but those very few episodes where the audio is not perfectly in-sync with the video is kind of distracting/annoying. Still, everything considered, it's well worth the money and I have no regrets dumping my MI set for it.

8 Episodes per DVD and holds up very well

No Problems

Subtitle:

Perfect Region 1 Rip - The only glaring error where the audio/video synch problem occurred was during Episode 8, other than that I honestly didn't notice any other mistakes.

Comment:

Love this series but don't want to pay $30 for 4 Episodes? Or don't want to put up with MI/AC piss poor subtitles? Well don't worry this wonderful FX title picks up the slack without breaking the bank.
