Video:

Video quality is surprisingly good for all 5 movies; sharp picture, crisp colors, no distortion or pixelation. No complaints here.

Audio:

Audio-wise you have a permant buzzing sound in the background which is noticable mostly during quite scenes and gets really annoying after a while. It´s present on each disc. Aside from that, all movies have decent stereo sound.

Subtitle:

English subtitles are - to summarise it in one word - horrible (except for movie 2 with R1 subs). You get the whole program: worst grammar, bad timing, typos everywhere, many missing lines, all names wrong and the translation itself doesn´t seem to have anything to do with the spoken content here.

Comment:

The movies are actually Anime Studio releases, just relabeled and repacked as MAC ones. Movie 2 (Beautiful Dreamer) is an R1 rip without extras, the others are propably R2 rips. In the 2nd movie, there was also a massive glitch when playing this dvd: one chapter is not where it´s supposed to be. It´s just skipped and appears nearly at the end of the show. Only recommendable to people who already own another release of Beautiful Dreamer and know japanese so they don´t need any subs.

Video:

All movies are generally clear and vividly colored except "Movie1:Only you". "Only you"'s video quality is on par as the (MI)Maison Ikkoku."Beautiful dreamer" is CPM's R1 ripped.

Audio:

Stereo. Clear.Each movie ending sound track is memorable.

Subtitle:

Comment:

I like the movie set despite its average English subtitle. Each movie has charmingly introduced the diverse and unforgetable characters. Given I've never seen the UY TV, I'm deeply attracted to the UY's cast.Consequently I'm currently debating if I should cave in to buy the notoriously long and costly R1 UY TV series. I've seen InuYasha, Maison Ikkokku, and Ranma. But it's UY that has won my heart. Contrary to what most ppl think, I personally like Maboroshi Ataru ;-). NOTE: This MAC set may have 2 minor problems:- 1)The disk with lable "Beautiful dreamer 2" is actually "Movie1:Only you". 2)The disk with lable "Beautiful dreamer" is correct as "Movie2:Beautiful dreamer" but it has track skips and disk playing problem. In various point of the movie, the scene/story would abruptly change almost to the result of track skipping. As for disk displaying, my DVD player made unusually loud disk scratch like noise between track 6-11 which oddly did not atleast affect the image on TV screen (but still might probably contributed to the aforementioned abrupt story change)
