Video:

TV rip i am assuming, it isn't terrible, but not anything great. Didn't notice any pixelation or freezing but the quality itself just wasn't that great.

Audio:

Pretty good, again nothing all that special, but it never skipped or anything like that.

Subtitle:

Some of the main characters have had their names changed to something completely different and it is the most distracting thing i have ever watched, there are also key parts to the story which are displayed on screen and there are no notes to what is happening so you will miss a lot if you watch this set.

Comment:

If you have already seen the series and just want to sit down and watch it again than this set would work, but if you havent seen the series i suggest either getting a better set, or R1s or a fansubbed version.

Perfect and excellent video quality.

Audio:

Great audio, fantastic sound effects and clear crisp dialogue

Subtitle:

The subs were Ok. Not as bad as some of the Engrish driven titles I have seen by AV. They were understandable for the most part but it was like they took the literal translation for the dialogue. Some Engrish and some confusing translations and at times wrong names were used.

Comment:

Overall this set was good. For the most part the subtitles didn't get in the way of getting tangled up in the story. The story was great and I hope they finish wrapping up this series with the two new oavs episodes 27 and 28.

I'm afraid I'm changing my review. The video is actually pretty bad compared to the excellance of the wonderful full quality region 1 versions.

Audio:

Clear and strong.

Subtitle:

.hack is completly dialogue driven, but the subtitles are actually pretty good. They get some things wrong often, but overall, I watched and understood the subtitles. They are far from being perfect, but they are timed wonderfully, and are usually great. If I could watch the show, so could you. EDIT: After watching the R1 release, you will not believe how much you will miss with these subs. It leaves out so much stuff. You can watch it but you'll miss abour 30% of the series.

BOXART This is the first AV gatefold I've ever seen, and it was good. It felt a little flimsier then MI's usually are, but overall it's good. I'm glad they chose a nice picture for the front too. CONTENT I've never been into those online role playing games. They just were boring. But I honestly loved this show. It's music was outstanding, it was really suspensful, symbolic, and overall great. All the characters hold an important meaning, and the show got me hooked. It was VERY nice! I highly highly reccomend this show. Even a friend who borrowed it loved it, and she's the Yu-Gi-oh type. This show was really something. Everyone should see this. But, I reccomend the Bandai DVDs. These are just too bad.

My television has excellent speakers, and the sound from this set came out great.

Subtitle:

The subs where alright. They where understandable, but some words could have been changed although they make sense, it wouldn't be the word(s) one normally would use in conversation. They get a few names wrong in the subs, however, like using "Une" instead of Subaru.

Comment:

Overall this set was excellent. The story was engaging although it may be slow paced for some. It's well worth the money.

Please note that this rating is only for the 3rd disc. For the 1st and 2nd disc I would only give a 4 for video and a 3.5 for subs. All 3 discs are TV rips but the 3rd is (at least I believe so) the only one where they used a DVD-RAM so you notice a better video. Also the subs are only average for the first two discs. There are only a few typos but the terrible names and the unprecise translation make it difficult to follow the show. This changes with disc 3. Names are still wrong but the subs are now more detailed. Finally I understood what's going on. Overall only an average set because this show deserves much much more (like disc 3).
