Reviews for Marmalade Boy Part 3

Sound, video & subs are all the same as set 2. The story has started to pick up again. Apparently the creators decided they couldn't do the same old thing, so this series has Yuu sent to New York. It makes things more interesting and the story picks back up. Plus, the specials are an interview (subbed) and commercials (also subbed). What can I say? It's a shojo ending, but you knew this going in. All in all, a fun series that was well worth the money if you like shojo.

Video:

Very good video. Same quality as previous parts. Some rare dropouts, and of course it looks kind of dated, due to the original source.

Audio:

Nothing to complain about on my simple stereo TV.

Subtitle:

Very good subtitles. Same quality as in previous parts. Probably based on fansubs. Some few minor grammar errors, some few missing lines and sometimes the lines go off the screen. Names are right (or close for the English names). Only in one episode the names were kind of messy (I think I remember them calling Will (Bill?) totally wrong). The extras are also subbed.

Comment:

This took me ages to finish. Really too much soap for my taste. I really couldn't take more than one episode at one time. It's not that I don't like shojo stuff. But we already had Miki being jealous of Arimi, Suzu and Anju. And here we have her, getting jealous of Jeanny (Ginny?). Come on! It gets better halfway through the set, as the story finally takes up some speed and moves onward. IMO this series would have been better if it were only 52 eps in total. Anyway, all three sets have very good, consistent quality. This set also contains an extra OVA/movie prequel episode plus 2 music videos plus comments from Miki's voice actress. Recommended, if you like soap opera style stuff.

The video & audio was great quality, the subs were also good all the names were correctly spelled. The font of the subs were not the best...and a few timing mistakes...but nothing that wasn't corrected right away. I really liked the pictures that they used for the packaging because they were closer to the manga style. The storyline of Marmalade boy includes every type of relationship possible and the character development of every character in the show makes each character come to life. The music in Marmalde Boy is excellent and catchy. This is one of my favorite shows. All three box sets are great!
