Video:
Less episodes per disc means less pixelation. There's still a bit though, but overall, very nice video. This show has a wonderful, bright colored look to it and this set shows that off nicly.
Audio:
Sound was great on my crappy system. No complaints there.
Subtitle:
After 52 episodes, you're going to get used to the subs, and they get a bit better here, too, though they're far from perfect. But they're all understandable if at time ackward sounding. They seemed to use two translaters though, and one is much better than the other. They tend to alternate episodes, but by the end of the first disc the better one seems to have taken over fulltime. Good thing. Names are mostly wrong, but most of the names are english-sounding ones so it's easy to tell what the charecter's name actually is.
Comment:
The first stage of Luffy's adventure is over as he's assembled his dream crew. Now it's time for him to (FINALLY) explore the Grand Line. The first arc on this set is kind of disapointing-the Millenium Dragon arc isn't bad, and Apis is a great charecter, but the charecters are literally on the very edge of the Grand Line throughout it and you just want the arc to end so they can finally get there. Plus, the villains in this storyline are boring (though, um, unique to look at) and the whole thing is filler that did not happen in the manga. It's good, but can't hold up to the rest of the series. Once that storyline is over (it's about five episodes long) though, the plot really kicks into gear with Luffy and friends on the Grand Line. The majority of this set, therefor, is just as good if not better than the stories before it. One Piece is just a fun, fun show and this set continues that tradition as well as ups the drama a bit towards the end. Great stuff, just make sure you've seen the eariler episodes first.

This set is more of the goodness that is One Piece. The video is a 4(pixleation) The audio is a 5. I give the subtiles somewhere inbetween a 2-4. Some episodes are good, some are a little engrishy but totally undestandable. This DVD also marks the first filler episodes of the series. Overall I highly recommend One Piece to eveyone. It has something that everyone will enjoy. So buy it NOW.

Video: Colors and details look really sharp, but minor pixellation is an obvious problem. 4/5 Audio: All good, nothing bad or weird. 5/5 Subs: Comparable in quality to the previous One Piece DVDs from AV/Fx. They seem consistent in leaving the names butchered from the older sets, but names of newer people introduced in this set are either right or fairly close. In terms of grammar, word choice, translation, and easiness to read and understand, it varies. I'd say about 2/3 of the episodes have pretty good original subs with some Engrish (3.5) while the other 1/3 is very Engrishy and stilted (2.5). There are a handful of episodes that are in-between the two. 3/5 It's more exciting adventures for the Luffy Pirates. At the very least, this entire set has them on their way to Grand Line and exploring the Grand Line (finally).
