Beautiful video. Didn't have any blocking while I watched it. The animation was to die for!

Audio:

Great audio. The voices for each character were all very fitting and the sound was crisp. No problems at all on this set.

Subtitle:

The subtitles, which were a must for me seeing as I don't speak japanese, were done very well. There were slight spelling/grammar mistakes but it's nothing that takes away from the show.

Comment:

This show is great for anyone who loves a good action show. Every main character is interesting, especially Alucard. I would recommend getting this set.

The video on this set was awesome. For an anime with as much action and beautiful art as this one, it is very nice to have a HK set that is able to hold it all together. Some people have commented on the brightness of this set, but it is fine for me. I think it was really good. I am just amazed at the great job MI can do with DVD rips. Some have said that this one is even better than the highly rated FX release. Seeing what FX has offered lately, it is not likely that there is any better HK set of Hellsing for video than this one.

Audio:

The audio was great. The Japanese audio is just great. I loved the voice actor for Alucard. I cannot say enough how cool this show is and the audio is just another great piece on this good set. Sure, other sets may have the English audio but, who needs it?

Subtitle:

This was where the set had some problems. For me it is never an issue if things are spelled wrong, for example, big deal if it is Alucard once and Arucard the next time. No problem with that. But, I did feel that at times the subs didn't really relay what was going on and I felt a bit confused about what was going on. Still, the story never gets completely lost and it is just some minor details that I didn't really feel I understood.

Comment:

This is a great set. It doesn't have much in the way of extras, just creditless opening and closing. Still, I hold video quality paramount over any other feature and this one really really delivers the goods. I find that MI is really good at dvd rips and this is another great example. Also, if you are curious as to whether this is a good show or not, IT IS!! This show is awesome. It is action packed, exciting, and by far Alucard is THE COOLEST anime character I have encountered so far in my anime fan career.

The video quality was very sharp. Seems to be a DVD rip of the R2 because of the tremendously clear visuals.

Audio:

The sound was rich and lively coming out of your standard TV speakers as well as by 2.1 theater set up. Very good stuff!

Subtitle:

Some misspelled words and lines (Water for Walter, Integral for Integra), but nothing to big to make you want to stop watching and chuck the discs.

Comment:

A very good series to watch and own. The packaging was very nice and there were even a few DVD extras such as clean OP and ED.

The video is definately a rip of the R2 or R3 source. It's nice in how clear it is and crisp as well. However, there is a problem with the video. The reds on the video scroll on the border. It looks like the video was taken from some sort of analog source in that sense. I'm not sure why it does that, but it does.

Audio:

Absolutely magnificent. The show has some awesome music, and it comes out crystal clear with beautiful EQed sounds.

Subtitle:

The subs on this set were great except for quite a few foul-ups here and there. There were many typos in the later episodes (misspelled words or the bad space Syndrome wher eit's liket his). The subs were obviously sourced from fansubs, but I'm not sure which.

Comment:

I got this set through a trade, so i'm not sure of the pros and cons of the new FX set and the Mac set, but if you want to pick this set up, by all means do so. Personally I love the packaging on this set over all the rest of the sets.

Almost perfect, but there are a few glitches/dropouts.

Audio:

Nothing to complain about on my simple stereo TV

Subtitle:

Good subtitles with a healthy dose of typos. Some minor grammatical errors. And for the first episodes I wasn't sure, if Integra was man or woman, because they kept calling her Sir Integra(l?) all the times. But they are excused, since the japanese dub also calls her that later on.

Comment:

Extremely cool series, but a little overhyped. I would have preferred a darker, less flashy approach. But that's only my personal taste. Recommended!

They seem to be a DVD rip, so no problems really, clear picture and Colous ( just a little washed out maybe)

Audio:

No problems

Subtitle:

They are good, good grammar and they are understandable. Not many errors. But sometimes there can be a line that leaves you kinda "UHH ?". Sometimes i also found myself thinking "something must have been lost in the translaction",like the carachters should be saying something more interesting and elaborate, then what appears on-screen.

Comment:

It's a good set, the subs could be a little better, but you will understand the show without a problem. English Menus and includes Textless Opening /Ending.

Video Great, nothing to brag about. I didn't even notice any pixelation, but I haven't watched the complete set yet. So far it looked perfect. Probably one of the best looking HK DVDs I've got. There isn't even an MI logo or email burned into the video! Audio This series has some great music, and it comes through perfect in this set. Nothing to bitch about! Small note, there was one instance where there was a little 'pop' in the sound. This was in episode 6, when Alucard fired his gun. It was quite a 'hard sound', and maybe a little encoding problem. I don't believe it was my setup, since I heard it every time. Subs Seemed great too. Apart from some misspellings, and maybe a few mistimings, I didn't notice anything wrong with it. So the Japanese can't spell "Helsing" right.. Big deal. This release is almost perfect. Video is very nice (the first disc is a bit bright though, but it looks like it might be on purpose the way some scenes are set up). Audio is very good. Definite R2 rip. Subs are fansub-lite. Very good translations, but there are moments of Hong Kong original subs sprinkled throughout. You'll hardly notice them though. Video 5/5 Audio 5/5 Subs 4.75/5

Video 5/5: I found the visuals to be sharp, the series itself being mostly dark yet having vibrant colors. Audio 5/5: Another thing I truly enjoyed about this series was the soundtrack, the audio is crisp and clear. Subtitles 4/5: They can't seem to spell "Walter" right more than 2 times in a row... but its all right. edited by Shinzero on 07 Nov 2002 11:52 am

Video: 4/5 Colors and details look sharp. I saw some grain and blockiness during dark scenes that had an abundant amount of black. Also some "blips" with the video--you know, where a frame of animation seems misplaced. I don't know what to call those. Audio: 5/5 Sounded perfect to me. Subs: 4/5 Fansub quality--thus, probably from fansubs. Most of time they call our favorite red -coat wearing, gun-toting vampire "Alucard" although I saw at least one "Arkard." His boss is called "Sir Integra", "Miss Integra", or "Sir Integral". Any problems with the subs are minor and vastly infrequent--occasionally I see a sentence where grammar is a little off, or there's a typo or two, maybe a word or two missing from a line, and a line is slightly ahead or behind. This is like only once an episode. The only bad subs are for the translation of the on-screen Japanese text at the conclusion of Episode 13, which are pretty Engrishy. Otherwise all good. -Disc 1: 9 episodes Breaks for opening, episode, closing, preview Clean opening and closing as extras -Disc 2 4 episodes Breaks for opening, episode, closing No extras Menus are extremely simple. You can choose the subs at the main menu screen or go to a select a scene submenu. On Disc 1 when I chose the English subs, the DVD stopped playing. On Disc 2, it immediately went to the opening of Episode 10 (the first episode on that disc). Disc 1 plays perfectly as long as I don't select subs from the main menu (I select them during playback with my remote)--I don't know if this is a rare problem or not. That's it. Set: 4/5 Great set, worth owning.

Video - No pixelation (I didn't notice any on my tv-screen anyway) or other distortion. Surely a dvdrip. 5/5 Audio - Since I use my TV speakers I can't tell you exactly how good it is, but I'm sure there's no distortion or noise, and that everything sounds crisp. 5/5 Subs - They used fansubs for the first 9 episodes, the last four episodes had just as good subs though. There was some small timing issues on episode 1-9, the subs would skip ahead for a couple of seconds and then go back to normal, and in 10-13 the were some small errors in grammar/spelling. 4.5/5 Nice packaging, Textless intro/outro as an extra on disc 1, they could have included the "Hellsing special" as an extra but they didn't. Nice series and a great release.
