Overall:
Video:
The video quality was excellent, no distortions, pixellation or blurry lines. However, the graphics for this final series was just bad. The colors and vividness were all sharp and clear, but the graphics looked simply sloppy. The entire last series looked like they were all computer enhanced and designed instead of the previous boxsets which were all drawn and designed with exquisite detail and originallity.
Audio:
The audio for the Japanese version was well done. None of the roller coaster-like volume you would notice on other imports, and the voice actors sounded terrific. As for the English dub... it deserved a 1 STAR. The US cast for the voice overs just sounded HORRIBLE. Chichiri sounds like an annoying dork who repetitively says, "Ya know?" and Tatsuki sounds like a jerk. Switch it to Jap. dub, and the bad dubs will all go away.
Subtitle:
Unfortunately, they didn't offer English subs for this final series, but if you can read Chinese... good for you.
Comment:
This final conclusion of Fushigi Yuugi isn't really a must see. You actually don't have to see this because we all know what happened to the two main characters from the OVA, with a bit of imagination... Voila. This is just an unecessary ending for an already finished TV series. All in all, I recommend skipping it.

I gave the subtitles a '5' because even though it has no english subs, giving it a low ratig woult make it's overall quality go down for nothing. This is an exact perfect rip of the japanese version. Yes, the japanese version even had the english dub on it. It has no english subs, but it has the dub on it, and the dub was made with the actual OVA, so it is much better then the standard dub. The video and audio are flawless, and the menu is in japanese. The video is EXCELLANT. Has WONDERFUL computer graphics, awesome animation, everything is perfect. But for about 1 second per episode, it turns MAJOR digitalized. It only lasts one second then goes back to being perfect. Now, the video appeared perfect to me on my COMPUTER DVD PLAYER ! They usually suck ! On my standalone it will look even better. Suprisingly, the cover is exactly the same as the japanese version. MI didn't even add their logo to the back. It's not even on the disc (though their email is) but when you first put the DVD in you will see their flashy logo. Content: 5/5 Really cool show. Worth the $12 Very good buy, edited by Mysterious God on 12 Sep 2002 8:21 am
