Reviews for Armitage III Collection

Video:

Excellent R1 rip.

Audio:

The 5.1 surround is here, and quite awesome, if you have the capabilities for it.

Subtitle:

No choice but Japanese or Chinese.

Comment:

Although Dual-Matrix & Poly-Matrix, both included here, are probably the best of the 'bladerunner' animes, there are a few gripes. Both features clock in at around 90 minutes each, so they could have easily been put onto one disc. The voice of Keifer Sutherland in Dual-Matrix, as Ross Sylibus, was a very bad choice. Its really all wrong! The voice of Juliette Lewis in Poly-Matrix, as Naomi, leaves a lot to be desired as well. And sadly, there is no Japanese Audio to go to! So, your stuck with these awful dubs. If you can sorta get past that, the two features are still very well executed, and still very exciting.

Very nice. Just like a R1 rip, because it is the R1 rip. Note: This DVD contains both the Polymatrix movie (which, incidentally, is the cut-down version of 4 OAV's), and the Dual-matrix movie.

Audio:

Ditto on the audio.

Subtitle:

The first disc is ONLY in English (with a really bad dub job), which only has Japanese & Chinese subs available. Dual-matrix comes with a Japanese & English audio track (also horribly dubbed!), but NO ENGLISH SUBTITLES--only Chinese! The subs themselves may be great, but assuming that most people reading this would be English-speaking, fat lot of good it does!

Comment:

Why can't I find this DVD with Japanese language & English subtitles?!!? (weeping softly) OK. I'm better now. (sniff) I just couldn't enjoy either story. The dubbing, I kid you not, was really, REALLY bad. It just sucked all of the life out of this. They even switched actresses dubbing Armitage for the second movie, and she was just as bad if not worse than the first gal! If you like bad dubbing, you will probably enjoy this set. Me, I'll just wait around, growing moss, until a Japanese language/English subbed version comes out...
