Reviews for Vampire Hunter D Special Edition
Video:
Audio:
Subtitles:

Overall:

Video:

The video itself looks like a direct trasnsfer from a VHS. The colors are dark, the film looked great watching in a room with no light on. I didn't notice any moments of pixilization though which is a definate +

Audio:

Audio is dark and haunting. The vocal is crisp and clean. Definately the best part of the the series

Subtitle:

only checked out for a sec but wasent really impressed by the little bit that I did see

Comment:

This film takes me back compared to some of the high end anime that are coming out today D doesent compare but considering this film came out in 1985 and that is was one of the first series of its kind this was an amazing title. I would rate this as a must have for anyone who loves older clasic anime.

remastered my ass. the original looked exactly the same. this is a decent quality dvd considering the film is pretty old. no problems here.

Audio:

i was quite impressed with the audio quality here, again its nothing to be proud of, but for a bootleg this is certainly satisfactory.

Subtitle:

the subtitles are amongst some of the best ive seen on a hk dvd. and i stress that everyone should watch this movie in its native language with english subtitles because the english dub is so incredibly cheesy that it makes me sick. well maybe its just me.

Comment:

this dvd is a very good rip of a classic anime movie witch oozes with originality (maybe not in this modern day) and is an enjoyable watch. its certainly worth $9 of any good mans dosh, although i dont think it stands up to such modern classics as akira (well fairly moden), ghost in the shell, neon genesis evangelion and the patlabor movies. btw i have no idea what the crack is with the hand that eats the dirt and talks!

Remastered? Wow I dont want to imagine how bad was the video in the old version. Well if your are going to see this in your TV, the grain an the extreme sharpness wont disturb you at all. The lines look very strange, like in the remasterization process they overdo a bit the sharpness. I dont recomend to watch this in the PC.

Audio:

Sound fine, english and japanese tracks.

Subtitle:

Very good subs in terms of translation, altough the english track and the english subs dont say the same sentences, both mean the same.

Comment:

Eppp, I only watched very quickly to do this review, in the future I'll post my impression about the anime.

Video:

It skips for like a second near the end, but otherwise, no complaints.

Audio:

Sound was good also, no problems.

Subtitle:

Subtitles were good grammatically, and easy to read (as far as font and size are concerned).

Comment:

Well, this is a great rip. I was very satisfied with it in every way. If you haven't seen it, the story is dark accompanied by perfect mood setting. The operatic music complements the climatic hair-raising ending perfectly. Finally, the animation was fluid making this movie artistically outstanding.
