Reviews for Irresponsible Captain Tylor TV
Video:
Audio:

Overall:

Video:

Some slight pixelation now and then. And the video looks a little bit dated, but it probably does so on the R1s.

Audio:

Only listened to the Japanese audio. There's an audible 60 Hz backround hum, that you notice during silent parts.

Subtitle:

R1 ripped with two minor mistakes: One or two lines missing per episode, and the second subtitle stream's font is transparent with black outlines. But as far as I remember it was only used for song lyrics.

Comment:

A very good show. Very entertaining and funny (although it gets more dramatic and less funny towards the end). Recommended!

Compared to the R1 set this is actually almost a clone except for the high pixelation in high action sequences or intense lighting

Audio:

The English Audio is a bit low but that is also found in the R1 set.

Subtitle:

An average of 0 to 2 missing lines in an episode but not bad at all. R1 rips so perfect English.

Comment:

Its a mix of comedy and galactic ships at war so its like captain harlock meets slayers. Well I saw this series 10 years ago in raw japanese and liked it then, after buying the MAC set I am so glad I did because I was reminded why I liked the characters in the first place, for 28 bucks you can't go wrong with this set.

minor pixelation on battle scenes but overall is good.

Audio:

I've mostly listened to Japanese track. The English track is more quiet than the Japanese track on a volume.

Subtitle:

Good given I can understand fine when watching in Japanese track.

Comment:

This title easily becomes one of my favorite anime collection ;-). Tylor is not only irresponsible but also unbelievable ;-). I stayed up the whole Saturday to finish the entire 26 eps and went to bed around 7 the next morning ;-) hehe..

There is a little pixelation in Episode 2, but everything else is excellent!!! In fact -- throughout episodes 23-26, the animation is very fluid and of superb quality. 4.95 here.

Audio:

The dub quality for this series is great!!! I havent listened to the japanese track, so I couldn't tell you anything about it.

Subtitle:

Subtitles are white when someone is talking and black when a song is being played... The black subtitles are very annoying... if only they were in green....

Comment:

This is THE best anime series of all time. This has to be the best 42 dollars I will ever spend in my entire lifetime... GET THIS SET!!!

The video on this release is pretty good. There's no major problems such as aliasing, macroblocking and such. Everything just seems clear and defined. Taken from the R1 DVD release, the video looks just about as good as the source that it's ripped from.

Audio:

The audio on this disc, for the most part, is fine. However, one thing I did notice is that the English 2.0 track is very subdued compared to the Japanese track. For a start nothing appears to be very loud on the English track and I had to max out the volume on my TV just to hear what the characters were saying. If you're a sub fan, obiviously this won't bother you, but if you like dubs as I do, then it can get a bit irritating. Apart from this, everything is A-OK on the audio front.

Subtitle:

The subs, being perfect rips of the R1, appear to be timed excellently and are practically flawless. The even have subtitles for signs, banners, lines of kanji and such. No problems here.

Comment:

An excellent little set with only a few minor niggles this should be picked up right away. If only because the show is so damn funny!

It's a R1 rip, the video is pretty good

Audio:

Sounded Ok to me. Includes both the Dubbed and Original Japanese version.

Subtitle:

They are ripped also from the R1 release, but once in a while (it's rare) some subs become Transparent with only the borders showing . But it only happens very , very ocassionally.

Comment:

There are no extras to speak of, includes both the Dubbed and Original Japanese version. If you like the show, and don't want to spend money in the R1 release, buy since it's essentially a rip of it.

Great video! no problems at all, just as if you were watching it on TV, flawless.

Audio:

Completely flawless as well, can't say any more. Great translations just incredible.

Subtitle:

Great as well, i cannot believe the quality of this set, but I have to say that i like the translations on the dubs slightly better then the subs.

Comment:

A must own if you like any form of anime and are not afraid to laugh although this set also has a certain element of seriosness as well so don't worry if thats your thing. All i can say is to get this set now.

Video/Audio: Great! R1 rips without over compression. Subs/Dubs: The subs are pretty good. They're well timed and have decent translations. This is one time where I prefer the dubs though. The voice actors selected for this project are first rate and have even better translations than the subs. Content: I laughed and laughed and laughed. What a great series. It's like someone crossed Golden Boy with Star Blazers and just a touch of some of the early episodes of Trigun and made this great series. I would add this title to my growing list of must own DVDs.

I recently bought this show after reading good reviews about it and I'm pleased to say I have no regrets about doing so. It started off slowly for me but picked up as it went along. I am now 3/4 of the way through and can't wait to see the rest. I think this is a R1 rip (though I'm just guessing) as it has excellent subtitles. Video (5/5): As far as I can see, there is no problems with the video. Audio (5/5): Can't find any fault here. Subtitles (4.5/5): Absolutely fantastic - perfect english and the timing was very good. My only gripe would be that on the rare occasions when more than one character is talking at the same time the second set of font is just outlined in black and not filled in with any colour so it's sometimes very difficult to read against the pictures. It doesn't detract from the storyline significantly but it would have been nice if they'd filled in the font with ANY colour rather than no colour, just so you could read what was happening. Packaging: blue gatefold with the MAC logo on the front. Plain, but I like it. Anyway, I would highly recommend this set.
