Video:
seemed kind of dulled, and i encountered a little bit of pixelation here and there but nothing noticeable w/o scrutiny.
Audio:
good audio
Subtitle:
i was unable to turn off the subs, though this is nothing really to worry about for me other who may wanna watch it w/o subs may find it annoying.
Comment:
nothing special about the menus but not bad... the only problem with this set was the in ability to turn off subs.

It does look dated, but it was very acceptable. No encoding problems here. Rip from the older R1 version. The 2nd episode looked VERY grainy though. I heard that his problem was on the R1 set too, but it still looks bad... There is a remastered version out at the moment (of both the R1, and a new FX set ripped of that new set).
Audio:
Both Jap and Eng dub sounded very good.
Subtitle:
Overall they were awesome, but since these were not direct copies, but re-typed subtitles sometimes the timing was a TINY bit off (not lines, but only 1 or 2 seconds). Overall very good, with allmost no typo's. Would've like direct copied subs better though. This one's probably done by MI instead of AV, like the Trigun set. They weren't hardcoded by the way, but you just can't turn them off for some reason. Hardcoded means they're branded in the picture, wich they weren't. This might be annoying for people who watch the dub though. It didn't mind me.
Comment:
Overall a very solid set, no realy problems here. Packaging looks OK. Chapter breaks are the same as the R1, wich means 6/ episode.

First episode or 2 was quite grainy but acceptable.
Audio:
Eng dub seemed fine to me.
Subtitle:
Subtitles - not dubtitles. However they were hardcoded. Can be quite annoying but i could live with it as sometimes i have them on even though i have the eng dub on.
Comment:
Extras: The Making of Record of Lodoss War OVA featurette. Subtitled in eng if i remmy correctly. Japanese fanboys & fangirls galore... bit dated looking.

Indeed, it should've been a rip of the recently released remastered version. The first two eps are extremely grainy, but i heard so were the ones on the original R1 set. The rest of the episodes are as good as they can get. I don't recall any pixelation or artifacts. There's not that many fast/crowded scenes, so the compression ran pretty smooth throughout.
Audio:
No problem whatsoever on either of the two audio tracks.
Subtitle:
Apparently direct rips, yet a few times a character's name (or an abbreviated name) appears before it's line. Other than that, i don't remember anything else wrong with them.
Comment:
All in all, a very watchable, very ownable set. Although not the best, i only wish more of the lesser sets were atleast this good.

Video: 3.5/5 The OVA shows its age a little bit, and it would've been nice if this had been a rip of the recent re-master just release. Some slight grain and pixellation, as well as minor artifacting, but probably only sharing the same problems as the original non-remastered Region 1 source. Audio: 5/5 No drop-outs, distortions, and in-sync with the video. Subs: 4.5/5 Used Region 1 as the source. Still occasional HK DVD problems of a typo once in a while or sometimes slight sub lag. Otherwise perfect.
