great video despite the fact that it's 38 episodes on 4 DVD's

Audio:

great audio understand everything they say without any problems

GREAT SUBS!!! I thought that 38 episodes on only 4 DVD's would actually touch the subs a lot making them suck totally boy was I wrong, these are amoung the best subs I've ever found, there's only 1 episode where 2 names were switched and that's all!!

Comment:

I first bought it out of curiosity. I wasn't disappointed. Series follow 2 boys that end up being chosen to be Dendoh's pilot ( the big robot ) to protect earth from the Karufa that simply want to invade earth. through out the series they are 7 data weapons ( snake, boar, ox, lion, unicorn, pheonix and fired dragon ) which have all unique attacks and ultimate attack. in order to win one must collect all 7 data weapons, so both sides wants the data weapons which happen to stroll around somewhere on earth. Also the Karufa, sicne they are machines cannot pilote any gear fighter dendoh and that is why they sometime need humans, when needed they simply brain wash them with something. Anyway you'll see the many intriguing episodes through out the series and it's worth watching it at least once. At least for the comedy taht is in it. When you'll see it you'll notice 3 stupid karufa that are exactly like the 3 stooges worth the price I paid for and dind't regret it one bit

I can't imagine a Region One release looking any better than this. Outstanding looking video. Bright colors, clean images.

Audio:

No problems I could hear. Professional job.

Some of the best HK originals I've ever seen. Names are all correct (except for one episode where the two main charecters' names are swapped) subs are usually grammatically correct and always understandable. Engrish is minimal. With a little proofreading, this sub script could be used for an offical release. One gripe: Songs are unsubbed.

Chapters: Opening, Act One, Act Two, Closing, Previews Extras: Disc Four has a few good extras-creditless versians of both openings, a creditless closing, a stock footage reel, and a weird little piece that appears to have been the pilot movie for the show. It's about 90 seconds long and really interesting to watch if you want to know how the show looked in the conceptiaul stages, before production began. Overall: This set is amazing! Apart from tweaking the subtitles a bit,(and adding a dub, I guess) I don't see how a Region 1 release of this series could possibly improve things. The set is that good. As for the show itself, it's pretty lightweight, and the concept isn't terribly original, but the way the story is told makes it worth watching. The charecters are fun and very likeable, the story moves quickly with very few filler episodes for a series this long, the villains are great (you gotta love the Garufa Trio-you'll know who I mean if you see it) and all openings, closings and previews are left in (a good thing since every episode has a different closing, and they are often important to the story) Dendoh is a fun little show that won't redefine anime for you but it'll sure as hell entertain anyone who likes lighthearted robot action in the vein of Gaogaigar.

Studio: Video Animation Episodes: 1-38 Video: 5/5 Clean, crisp, only very slight blurring. Audio: 5/5 Clean, clear, no problems here. Subtitles: 5/5 Probably the best HK originals I've seen. The names for the Data Weapons are wrong but the overall intent is there (and they're all listed in-series somewhere). Slight mistiming and typoing here and there, nothing major. One run of eps had Ginga's name subbed as "Hokuto" (the other lead), but it goes away after a bit. Overall, I was very surprised. Chaptering: OP, prologue, Part A, Part B, ED, preview. Bonuses: Footage of Dendoh's attacks, and a trailer for a preview - with *hand-drawn* artwork! (The series itself is wholly digital.) It looks like a pitch used to get Sunrise interested in the series. Menus: Still and silent, with Chapters, Subtitles, Play All, in English and Chinese. Content: The show's there, with bonuses. Impression: This is arguably the best HK set I've ever seen in my life. It's only a few notches away from being domestic-quality.

I purchased this DVD set rather reluctantly for fear that poor sub-titles would ruin it for me. As it would turn out, I was in for a wonderful surprise. Near perfect translations greet you from the very first episode (the only problem comes on the third disc when one character is given anothers name, thankfully corrected in the same episode it starts in). Beautiful video and sound make this set a definately worthy purchase for any and all Super-robot/ Mecha anime lovers!!

Video 4.5/5 R2 rip but there were ocassional tearings which lasted for about 0.5s. Audio 5/5 Fine no probs. Sub 4.5/5 Really high quality HK originals I think, I say HK originals cos there were still a few grammar errors here and there but 95% of the time it's more than adequate. Content: I was totally surprised by this show, I was not expecting a lot from it since I usually think "Primary school kids" in big robot shows usually have no depth and are real cheesy in general. Luckily Dendoh wasn't that at all and it ends up being one of best robot shows I've seen in a while. Most of the episodes were connected together while fillers were few and usually go unnoticed, quite a few twists and surprising moments in the plot that keeps u on the edge of your seat just eagering to see the next episode. Animation is really nice in general, as with all robot shows u get a fight of the episode with recycled animations when Dendoh executes his finishing moves but I didn't mind watching those over and over again cos they were animated extremely well. The fights were convincing not the usual "hero gets owned at start and somehow makes a miracle comeback". Overall it's not as serious as Z-gundam but if u're looking an entertaining and not too shallow robot show then u can't go much wrong with this one.
