Seems fine so far.
Audio:
The audio had no obvious problems.
Subtitle:
Blegh. The names are HORRIBLE. Blue eyes white dragon to GREEN eyed white dragon, Exodia- Astina (???). It also has some Engrish, but you can fairly easily understand what the characters are saying.

I would reccomend this set to anyone who is a fan of the series. Too bad it wasn't subtitled more like the second set...edited by dallaslad on 23 Nov 2002 10:02 pm

When I saw Yu Gi Oh on WB, it looked interesting, but I really wanted to see it in Japanese. Well then Funimation announced it for dvd, but dub edited only, so I bought this as soon as I saw it. I didn't care for YuGiOh at first, but once I got to ep 25, I was hooked. The subs are alright on this set, understandable, but the names are just bad. Mokua being Woodenhorse, Mai being Phoenix, etc. The sound was pretty good, but I don't have any special equipment, so everythign is normal no matter what I watch. The picture was excellent. My only true gripe about this set though is that the last 9 min to ep 27 are missing. The Blue Eyes Toon Dragon powers up, and poof, opening for the next ep comes on. I think it sucks, but I didn't let it ruin it for me. The series is still good, and check out the 2nd box set, it is even better than this one. Picture 5/5 Audio 4.5/5 Subs 3.5/5

It was deifnantly nothing to write home about. One episode is cut off part way, the video has some pixelization, the audio is pretty good but not great, and the subs are crap. Sometimes you can usually pick out meanings..... but for the most part.. yech.

Very nice video quality. Very very good, definantly rips of the region 2 DVD's.
Audio:
Average audio. I didn't hear any problems in it at all.
Subtitle:
The subs are pretty bad. They will run off the screen after a while on the last disc, and it didn't make much sense. It was only 30% understandable, I'd say.
Comment:
One episode was cut off in the middle for me. It may have been a defective disc. I don't know.

Video is close to perfect, from the R2's... but has some pixelation during high motion scenes.
Audio:
Beautiful
Subtitle:
Some episodes they'd be very close to accurate, other episodes there is 1/10 lines that doesn't need to be deciphered. The subtitles are ugly, timed pretty bad, and funky Chinese names. Yet I still was able to follow along well enough.
Comment:
The subs are pretty great, but not too great. Overall, recomended. And the boxart on this set is like none I've ever seen before! Has the most beautiful packaging I have ever witnessed. You can't really tell in pictures, but if you have it in real life, the set has AWESOME boxart. Video- 5/5 Audio- 5/5 Subs- 3/5 EDIT: It only goes up to episode 32, and 32 is at a critical point (the final battle between Jounouchi and Yugi). And the subs for the last 6 episodes or so majorly majorly run off the screen, so they're unreadable sometimes. Also, once episode on the 3rd DVD ended about 10 minutes early (the last part of the ep. was just cut off). I still am happy with it though..... kinda......
