The overall picture was PERFECT. I had watched it on a old DVD player and it was still great!

I love the story of Pretear. It's very romantic, and comical. There was problums that related to everyday life which made it even better. But it still has the romance and betreyle, which is good. The first time I saw it, I loved it.

Video:

The video quality was excellent, no distortions or pixellation. It played on my DVD player perfectly, but when played on my PS2, it freezed for a second several times which happens a lot on my PS2. The graphics were crisp and clear and the colors were really vivid, not the washed out colors of other animes.

Audio:

The audio was very clean, no muffled or roller coaster-like sounds. The voices of the actors were great, nothing grating to the ears.

Subtitle:

The subtitles were excellent, no engrish or weird translated names. The timing for the subs were perfect, weren't too fast or out of sync with the voice actors. Easy to read subs with large white lettering.

Comment:

Pretear is similar to Snow White in only a very small way, but added into it is comedy, romance, action, family/friends conflict issues that makes this story so much better. At first I thought it was some kiddy type of anime, but after watching several more episodes of the series, it got pretty interesting. Alll I can say that this is a very enjoyable series to watch.

This set is simply perfect, the story is great, and you can also see why some call it snow white you'll know why in the ending ;-) You get to know the most interesting characters pasts like Hayate and Saseme, along with disater queen. I simply loved this set and it's no not expansive and hard to get, go search beay yourself and you'll see none are on sale. I highly reccomand this series to those that like a good story, with some comedy along with some love here and there.

5/5 I watched it on a calibrated pc monitor, at 1280x960, and everything was perfect. Colors are beautiful and I couldn't see any pixelation at all, absolutely gorgeous. And there's even no logos or email addresses this time!!

Audio:

I listened to it with headphones, connected to the soundcard directly. Ep 1-7: 5/5 Perfect and clear stereo audio, with no distorsions. But... Ep 8-13: 3/5 ...from episode 8 (the second on disc 2) it becomes a bad mono audio! I say bad because I could clearly hear little distorsions here and there. I don't have any idea of what the hell they did but this is surely an error of MI's encoding process. I even ripped the audio track to check the wave form, and it's obvious that something happened. The difference between the theme songs of ep 1-7 and 8-13 is remarkable, I wonder why nobody noticed it. I seriously doubt this can be something caused by a defective disc. Well... at least there was no problem with synch... Maybe it's something less noticeable on the TV speakers?

Subtitle:

5/5 Damn good subs. I don't know where they found this translation, but it's really good and accurate. Of course the HK touch is also present, I noticed 2 or 3 lines where they wrote the name of the wrong character, and again 2 or 3 lines where the wrong pronoun was used. Apart for this, nothing to worry about, maybe 1 or 2 uncorrect tenses on the whole series.

Comment:

If it wasn't for that problem with audio this could be a perfect set. While watching the first disc I was so happy, thinking "This set is perfect! You don't even need to wait an R1 release". Now I'm waiting for it.

Video:

Well, it was clear and I didn't notice any problems, but my setup is running through an old VCR, so it tends to make things look like crap anyway.

Audio:

Sounded fine to me. Love that opening song.

Subtitle:

Wow! Nearly perfect spelling, grammar, and punctuation... and to a person like me that means a lot. Everyone's name spelled correctly, etc.

Comment:

Speaking as a girl, I thought this show was, well, girly. I really liked it! It was very cute, had some adorable romance going on, and an interesting plot. Definitly not the thing for someone who dislikes shoujo anime... you've got your spunky heroine, who's surrounded by seven attractive guys, battling evil by bonding with them in a rather disturbing manner (as I said to my friend... If Goh or Hayate "bonded" with me, sparks would fly out of my crotch too). The villain is more complex than you'd expect, and some of the things that happen are a bit surprising. It's a short show (13 eps) and if you like shoujo, I'd reccomend it overall.

Great Video...dvd ripped for sure. The colours are well defined and vibrant, didn't noticed any pixelation.Oh ! and no Logos or Email :)

Audio:

I found no problem with the Audio. Everything sounded Ok to me.

Subtitle:

Great Subs! Great timing and they don't go off the screen. The Grammar is good also and there are just a couple of spelling mistakes. Everything seems to be Subbed as well.

Comment:

It's a great set , almost perfect indeed . Includes no Extras. The menus are in English.

Video:

Excellent video. Very good animation and character design, and the rip must have been a really good job done too. I did not notice any kind of problem.

Audio:

Well, I can't tell much about the audio, cursed as I was with PC speakers and TV speakers, but I didn't detect any problems.

Subtitle:

English subtitles are excellent! Very, very few problems like grammar, capitalization, and spelling. Opening and closing songs and previews are subbed in both Chinese and English.

Comment:

- Menu is animated with background song. - All openings, closings and previews are intact. - Beautiful packaging! Clear plastic slipcase + gatefold with artwork. Disc art matches gatefold art nicely. - No watermark or e-mail appearing in the show. - The first disc contains 6 episodes, second disc contains 7. Content: Ok, another magical girl show. Quite entertaining, although some scenes were really too silly for my tastes. There were some slow parts on the second disc that almost made me fall asleep, but overall, a good show. It reminded me so much of Magic Knight Rayearth (^_^) Conclusion: Good show + excellent rip = must buy.

I recently got this dvd off of ebay, and well, I'm not to happy with the packaging, but hey... I must have gotten the old pretear, because it was in a black dvd case with the discs saying 1 and 2. They had the same image. The seller also had stuck two pretear cover images, same as shown, but on the spine, one said 1 and the other 2. It is by MI Video - 5 out of 5, beutifull! no problems here! Audio - 5 out of 5 , Just great too! Subs - I would give them 5 out of 5 were it not for a slight timming issue they have... it's like a second slow.... Packaging - I'm not to happy.. I did not get the beutifull gatefold package with images... I got the old style... sigh... oh well, the dvd's are great! Menus - BEUTIFULL! They are in chinese and english, not a R1 rip I guess.. but it's almost flawless like if it were one! The backgrounds move, there are songs and melodys are you scroll thru the categories.... The categories are as follows : 1. play all 2. subtitles 3. chapters No bonuses. :( ah, I don't care. lol... btw - the opening animation and song are awesome! Menus don't get tiring at all to look thru~ :D _______________________________________________ I have only seen eps 1 and 2 , I'll have a better synopsis on how the whole thing was when I finish it.

Wow.. this was just an incredible set... Video: I could find no problems here. I'm a real quality nut, so that tells you something right there. This must have been a direct R2 rip. Watching it on my PC, I was in heaven. The colors were always solid (IE: No macroblocking), and I noticed 0 macroblocking during fight/transformation scenes. 100% perfect. I included pictures to show it off at its best, and I suppose, worst (though it didnt really have a worst). Audio: No problems here. Sounded perfectly fine through my headphones. Subtitles: Not perfect, but great. Alot of times, the tenses of a word got mixed up. Example: "And may the whole world snows with white" This wasn't all that often and was perfectly understandable. There weren't any stupid typos (yuor, adn, teh) or any other common subtitle complaint. No Engrish, either. Very very good . =] Packaging: Beautiful. I especially loved the artwork on the discs. I've included pictures of this, too. I don't have the best camera nor a steady hand.. so excuse the quality ^_^;. Content: A great series. It started off somewhat badly and seems uninteresting at first, but it really is worth watching. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Wonderful, wonderful set. A must buy, in my opinion.

Audio was great as well, volume wasn't too high or low. Even better than some R1 dvds.

Subtitle:

I heard they ripped it from Odex. No doubt. The subtitles are as good as an R1 release. There was very few typos/spelling errors. Translation was probably very accurate and the timing was right on.

Comment:

I love this set not just for its quality. There's a lot going on here. The story itself is pretty good and funny too. It's sort of like Sailor Moon, but I find comparing it to Sailor Moon is degrading it. It's a magical girl show nevertheless. But it's pretty funny and I find it wayyy better than Sailor Moon. The characters are more attractive and the animation is far better. And there's actually a pretty interesting plot with some twists.

Video:

Very good, but picture flickers a little bit on the bottom of the screen. You shouldn't notice it, if you keep a healthy distance to the screen.

Audio:

Very good stereo.

Subtitle:

Close to perfect on the first disc, some minor grammatical mistakes on the second disc. Only very few typos.

Comment:

I liked it very much. This is magical girls for adults. No, not what you think, but it's different from other magical girl series I've seen. No repetitive transformation scenes and the demon-of-the-day fight is always short. And the mood gets very dark towards the end. Excellent set on the technical side.
