The audio and video are excellent, and the subs are almost average, but my main problem with the movie was the art and storyline. I own over a dozen lupin movies and this is by far my least favorite storyline. The character design does not compare to the other movies or even to the TV series. Many of the characters were out of place (Lupin gets captured alot, Jigen knows every move that Lupin will make, Goeman...cares about money). The only character change that I liked was Zenigata (He was much smarter and actually appeared to be a rival of Lupin...instead of a comic relief. I did watch the entire thing...so the movie is not that bad...but I do not think I will ever watch this title again. unlike Castle of Cagliostro which I have seen ten times.

Every one should own this movie especially lupin fans. The movie is very good. Everything about the actual movie is great. My one and only complaint about this dvd are the subtitles. Let me get one thing out in the open though, it is understandable, with lots of engrish abound like "Binkwon" "you creature" and "low pon" to name a few. If you understand Nihon-go (japanese for those who dont know) this is even better because you dont have to use the subtitles at all which is a bonus. Trust me learn japanese you will be better off than you think. Other than that one complaint this is a great title even with the crummy subs get this now!

I'm a huge Lupin fan. Have been ever since playing Cliff Hanger in the arcade. This is one of the better movies in the series that I've seen. Lot's of good humour and double takes on things. The video is pretty good. Way better than VHS but still not as bright as a good commercial release. I'm not the best judge for audio because I don't have all the Dolby 5.1 goodness or surround sound. What I can say is that every thing sounds nice and clear with no hums or hisses. The subtitles are one of the weaker points to this release. The engrish is decent (much better than some I've seen) but it gets chopped off at the bottom of the screen a few times. This leaves you interpreting from the top halves of the words shown. For Lupin fans, you gotta have this. If you haven't seen any Lupin movies before, get Castle of Cagliostro first. That's still the best and unlikely to see anything better in the forseeable future.
